Russell Westbrook is not injury prone. You can not want the guy on your team without resorting to making things up about him.

3 of his last 5 years he's been hurt.  2 separate injuries that carried over but he was healthy last year.

Both of his injuries were of the freak nature. Patrick Beverley crashing into your knee while going for a steal when you're calling a timeout doesn't make you injury prone. Breaking your hand once while going for a rebound doesn't make you injury prone. The dude didn't miss a single game dating back to junior high school until the Beverley incident.

He also broke his face.  It does make him injury prone actually.   I'm not makng anything up.  He had 3 surgeries on his knee as well.

... he broke his face and missed a single game. Your point? It was as serious an injury as slightly spraining your ankle or tweaking your back, in the grand scheme of things.

And his three surgeries were all related to the Beverley incident. He didn't have three surgeries for three separate injuries.

You can argue that his style of play, with repeated aggressive drives to the basket, does make him more injury prone. Together with his athleticism, that is the core strength of his game, but how long can his body maintain that on a regular basis?

Sure.  But the actual reality doesn't bear that out. LeBron's style of play also probably makes him more prone to injury, but he clearly has never suffered a serious injury. Some guys just have incredibly resilient bodies.

His style of play and the amount of minutes he plays is probably going to lead to more injury.  Westbrook scares me that way.  That's just my opinion. I'm not saying he doesn't battle through a lot of stuff but I think he is an injury risk.  He has actually been lucky imo the way he plays that he doesn't get hurt more.

He does not strike me as a player that can go deep into the playoffs year after year without getting hurt.

We don't need to extend Westbrook now anyways. We can just trade for him and max him out next summer, after we sign Gordon Hayward, if it looks like Jaylen Brown might take a couple of years to develop.

Also, not worried about Westbrook's injuries. He put up 28ppg two years ago or so, and he's 27 years old so not worried at all. He is a little reckless/aggressive, gets hacked a lot but it doesn't mean he's injury-prone. I'm all for this trade even if we have to overpay a bit.

Westbrook could be the only player available who id genuineltly consider over Cousins.

I think hes a weirdo, but he is a rediculously talented.  He'd make us an instant top 3 team.  He is a seriously Lebron-esque talent. I wpuld argues he's a better player then Durant.

Ainge will not give up any meaningful assets unless Westbrook agrees to extension. Would be insanity otherwise.

He's not signing one. That hasn't happened with a UFA since Carmelo Anthony was traded from Denver and the CBA rules were VERY different then with extend-and-trades.

Then why are we even talking about a 1 year rental for this guy, by gutting our significant present and future assets?  Are the "takers" really buying into the Celtic magic, that once he gets here, and realizes what a great coach Stevens is, and what a great city Boston is, he will stay here for the rest of his career?  Stop the fantasy.  Stop the impatience.  This is not 2007, when we really had no future without making a big trade. This is not a young bad team (2007). This is a young, good team, that has incredible future assets.

For a one year rental?  Are you kidding me?

Sadly, I think all these Rumors are just a combination of Danny & Co. making the "We're not done" statements last week--and Danny making phone calls this week.

Larry Bird was Greater than you think.

I don't think a single person here would do it risking that it's a rental. I'd hope for assurance in writing. Would anybody risk that? Thanks in advance.

But I don't know the rules. Maybe it's not allowed to assure he stays in writing. I could be wrong.

Maybe. One things for certain, holding close to that 17' pick since the draft was darn smart. That thing is skyrocketing with every offer sheet matched.

Trade for Cousns?  Cool.
Trade for Griffin?  Less cool, but ok.
Trade for a Philly big? Absolutely, take the chance, especially if it's Okafor.
Trade for Westbrook?   Hell no!

When people are free to do as they please, they usually imitate each other.

Two major questions that come from a strong Westbrook rumor.

1. Will DA be 100% sure he resigns

2. If 100% sure whats the package?

Question 2 brings on the following,

Do they want IT when they have Payne?

Do they want Smart when they have Payne and Oladipo?

Do they want AB when they have Oladipo?

Who do they prefer Brown or Crowder in a deal? or both?

If DA is reassured in Westbrook resigning I would with great hesitation offer the following,

Brown, Smart 2017 Nets, 2018 Cetlics

Mavs
Wiz
Hornet

Those are not rumors just speculations (turned into rumors)
Only because we have assets, cap space and in win now mode.
