I really hope if we do make a trade for a Westbrook, Griffin, or Cousins that we keep Brown at all costs. This kid is going to be something special with his ability to attack the basket.

So Brown ended up with 25 pts on 8-16 fgs, 9 rebs, 1 ast, 2 stl, 8-11 free throws  with three turnovers over 25 minutes. Pretty good performance.

Yeah, but we should have drafted Dunn according to many impatient fans.

This kid can fill up a stat sheet despite his rawness. He is going to be a very good player. Needs to cut back on that spin move though.

Dunn is a hell of a player.

I'm starting to feel good about Brown again, but given a draft do-over I'd still take Dunn.  Though its no by as significant a margin as it was on draft day.

Is the next game the last one no matter what?

yes. 2016 teaching kids that they all win... how do you go 1-3 and still play???? give them all a trophy why don't you.
Teams build their summer league schedules based around how many SL games they want to see their guys in. If the variation in possible games played was too large itd be hard to get teams to go to the Vegas Summer League because the it just wouldnt be concrete enough. Now that the SL is big enough they could probably get away with changing those rules but whats the point? the purpose is to get to look at the young guys. Adding a champion is just a nice little touch for some fan intrigue.

With his athletic and defensive potential, Brown could be a top 10/15 player in the league if it all pans out for him. He's going to get to the rim at will at the NBA level, and a halfway decent jumpshot could get him near 20 PPG with proper usage. If he develops an average 3 point shot, ala Jimmy Butler, he could be an All-NBA caliber player. If he doesn't, he will still be able to carve our a role as a hyper-athletic defensive wing who can generate points by getting to the line. Dunn, on the other hand, looks like a lock to be AT LEAST a Jeff Teague, Kyle Lowry type borderline all-star level talent, with the potential to he even more.

But if you wanna know why Ainge didn't pick Dunn, there it is. If everything goes right for both of them, Brown has the higher ceiling. We need superstars. Brown has more potential to be that than Kris Dunn, even though Dunn is less likely to be a "role-player".

I was pro-Dunn, too but I'm coming around to the pick given his age, size + athleticism, positional need/logjam, character, and now SL performance.  Our player development is sketchy right now, though -- I hope they pump a ton of energy into developing him. He's got the physical tools to be an absolute stud. It's gonna take a lot of work, though.

sorry i missed this one.  Looks like Brown had himself a nice game?

He was great, Rozier too.
That's great.  Even when he is struggling to make shots or finish, he's displaying great quickness, explosiveness, handles and an ability to create his shot and get to the hoop.  That's huge.  He could be a really good player some day.  He's 19 so the journey is going to be fun to watch.  He's already my favorite Celtic prospect since Al Jefferson.  I believe in this one.  Hope he reaches his potential.

The development of Terry Rozier into becoming this kind of player is definitely a welcome surprise as well. I laughed at people who were comparing him and Marcus Smart and people willing to deal Smart because of Rozier and now obviously I see it. I love Smart, he's a winner, a bulldog, a fighter and an elite defensive player - but he just isn't fast enough to compete on the offensive end and doesnt have as much explosiveness as I thought he would. Rozier has it, and makes Smart expendable in trades even though Smart is easily my favorite player on the team.

Its easier to develop players and give them minutes when they actually play defense and do other things. This is why imho, Smart earned minutes while Young did not.

You can afford to give minutes to guys like Smart and Brown and not risk a lot than with guys like Young.

This could happen, but your assuming much in terms of Summer league translating to the NBA level and what happens in practice.   I do think Rozier has the potential to be a better player, absolutely.   But I do not see him pulling off the SL crap in practice against Smart and thereby not getting the playing time.

They have one game left (consolation round). They play 5 games minimum. The next (and last) game they play is Friday.

Good game by Rozier but looking into it deeper, he is such a ball hog

Where are the extra passes?

If Pops was the coach , one of his brain vessels would pop

It's Summer League. There supposed to play hero ball. Every guy on the court is out there to make the best impression they can. Looking for your shot is a positive in SL. I'd rather have Rozier and Brown be selfish and look to master plays they can make for themselves in the pros against better than NCAA competition than have then pass out to a wide open Malcom Miller or Ben Bentil for a missed jumper.

The results mean NOTHING. Rozier and Brown have shown that they deserve a spot in the rotation for the Celtics. Rozier looks ready to step into the Evan Turner role, and Brown looks like he has sky high potential. He's insanely explosive. This dude is going to get to the line at will in this league by the time he is 21. It's starting to look like a better defending DeMar DeRozen is his floor, while a more athletic Kawhi Leonard is his ceiling.

I wouldn't take much from SL except how a player looks in talent level compared to the competition, while remembering that this Celtic SL squad has a BUNCH of recent 1st and 2nd round picks and in the HeroBall SL, not every one of those guys can have the opportunity to take over. Rozier and Brown look to be a cut above the competition, which is great news. James Young and RJ aren't gonna have the same kind of opportunities to shine those guys do, so take what you can get out of them. I have a feeling one of those two guys plays a decent role of spot-up shooting off the bench.

We really do need to consolidate sole of these guys though. Barring any major trades, the CBS ten man rotation will look something like:

PG: Thomas/Rozier
SG: Bradley/Smart
SF: Crowder/Brown
PF: Olynyk/Jerebko
C: Horford/Johnson

So how much PT is really left for the Jordan Mickey's and James Young's of the world?

Hopefully zero.  Maybe Mickey gets a few minutes here and there, but I'm not seeing that he's earned them.

There's the terrific ball handling skills of brown like he had at cal ::)

Brown could win MVP this year and some people would still say we should have taken Dunn

We'd have people complaining even if we got the #1 pick and drafted Simmons.  Some people just complain no matter what.

If we drafted Durant some will still complain. If we drafted Lebron some will still complain. I think people want us to draft another Larry Bird.

Olynyk will not start over Johnson. That one's not happening, folks.
