Basically:

*For the last two minutes of the 4th each quarter, it's now one point FT and keep possession

*Flagrant fouls will cover things like the infamous Nerlens foul

one point or one ft attempt?
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

I don't know how to feel about that, I mean, I always felt the hack-a-Shaq is boring, as it prolongs the game so much more. If you're behind sure, but if you're the one up 10+ pts and they do that, you kinda wanna kill someone, the last 2 minutes always felt like it's half an hour between the shots and then the timeouts

Yeah I never thought they'd actually change it because they probably make $100 million a year in extra ad revenue from the 4th quarter hacking alone

My gut reaction:  I don't like it.  It is a response to the fact that certain professional NBA players have not learned a fundamental basketball skill, and it's not even a skills that involves other players.  Free throws are like a putting green in golf: It's all up the player alone.

Nah, every green is different, which is one of the many variables that makes golf impossible to master, imo, whereas every free throw is taken from the same distance with the rim being the same height, which makes this even more pathetic, lol ;D.

Exactly.  Hate this rule change.

Indeed, it's ridiculous.  One of the first things you learn around 6th grade is the free throw.  Now they're getting paid millions and working more on 3-pointers than free throws. *sigh* the game has changed...

I think the hacking is a slly exploitation of a rule and has no place in professinal basketball. I also think there are a number of common sense solutions to stop it from happening. This is not one of them.

Anyone care to explain why these rules should apply to only the last 2 minutes of a quarter and not the entire game?

  • GOT IT!!!
In other words no one is ever going to intentional foul the last two minutes. Should have just gave the team a choice.

Wait, so now if you're down points at the end of the game, you can't try to foul to come back?? Is that how this rule will be put into effect??
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

Yea, wait. I'm confused. So there's no more extending games at the end of the 4th by fouling? That seems like such an important part of end game situations.
