I think Ainge drafted well. Like Brown and Yabusille. Nader very good value late 2nd round. Hope that kid gets a spot on our roster at some point. If not hooks up up with someone.

So where does Rj Hunter and James young end up??

Numbers crunch on team, neither setting world on fire in summer league

I think we should keep Young, and trade Hunter.

As much as people hate on Young, he's younger, is faster, and has a better chance of reaching his ceiling than Hunter, who literally just looks slow in every aspect of the game.

Except for, you know, passing, lol.

The thing is I'm not convinced Hunter will be anything better than Young, either. Hunter is 23, and Young is still 20. Arguments can be made for both to be 86'ed, no complaints with me, although I still think Young has the better chance to survive in the NBA due to being faster, younger, great stroke with a higher release point versus Hunter's; and defensive versatility with the perfect size/build to play SG/SF.

People say he looked lost, and I disagree. While Hunter clearly looked like the better player than Young last summer league, I would argue Young has shown more than Hunter in my eyes this years summer league.

Brown looked impressive, as a two-way player, and with an high penchant of getting to the line.

Yabusele looks really nimble for a man of his size, and he definitely needs a lot of help. But he should clearly be in the rotation, or at least with the team soaking up knowledge from our vets in Thomas, Horford, and Crowder/Smart.

Nader reminds me of Chris Babb, a guy you really can't help but like, and hopes finds success elsewhere.

I'd love for Yabs to make the team, but he hasn't shown enough to justify "starting the clock" on his NBA career.  He is willing to go back to France, and it makes so much sense rather than having to cut someone who has some potential.

Isaw it much differently.  Young looked like a spot up shooter and little else.  Hunter was actively involved moving the ball, and gets to passing lanes well defensively.  Got beat man to man a couple times though.  Hunter just looks more like a basketball player.

I think that Young is actually slower than Hunter, he still can't even dribble with his strong hand, lol, and his defense, a poke away or two notwithstanding, is still awful.  The most consistent thing about James Young thus far has been that he's changed his hairdo every game, even on off days.  The guy just doesn't care - you can see it in his body language.  At least Hunter got into it with Booker and blocked his shot, and he sure makes a lot of great passes, out there, while Young has only done so once in this regard, iirc.  The age thing doesn't matter to me.  It would be one thing if Young had shown noticeable improvement in any facet of his game, even just in terms of effort, but by and large, he's still the same player that he was in 2014, unfortunately.  Sigh.  That line by Daugherty about Young's nose ring was priceless, lol ;D.

The strength of both guys is outside shooting, but Hunter is just better at that, IMO.

The numbers bear out that Hunter is a better shooter, but the key with him will be if he can avoid being a defensive liability.  He's slow and not very strong though he's definitely aggressive and has a good feel for the game.  On a team with the speed and quickness that the Celtics have they might be able to carve a spot out for him.

Interesting advanced stat mentioned during tonight's broadcast that Hunter shot 46 % on uncontested 3 pt shots between Maine and Boston last season - which is better than Curry.  On contested 3's however he was a lot lower, like under 30% though I didn't catch the exact number.

Jury is still out on him as to whether he can be a contributor or not.  I just think he's a below average NBA athlete and that's something you really can't change.

Not passing, defense, and actually knowing how to come off of picks, lol?

Either way, if we wanted all of that plus a guy who can actually dribble, we should have just taken this guy, imo.  Welp.

You think? I was thinking RJ was a bit more well-rounded and focused/involved, while Young just has such a sweet stroke. Honestly, it seems Young has put forth a bit more effort than in games/years past, but it just doesn't look like enough.

Actually I'd be fine with both gone.  We have so many new promising faces whose contracts haven't even started yet so they are cost controlled for at least 3 years or more for the euro-stashes.

Thanks.
Highlights:
* Brown 20/10 and continued to show he can slash to the rim, and play some defense too.  Need to make his FTs more consistently and finish at the rim.
* Rozier with 25, creating his own shot and driving to the rim along with a couple nice jumpers.
* Mickey looking more aggressive.
* Thornton did not play *sigh of relief*
