If it is somehow possible, he may be simultaneously the greatest PF of all time, and one of the most underrated players of all time (hype wise.) [dang] ESPN. Feels like they never truly embraced him. He was the quiet giant who was amazing from start to finish, but he didnt demand attention. Compare that to lebron who utterly needs the limelight. He has a hissy fit when anyone even considers someone may be better than him.

One was content with uncompromised winning, the other feels okay to just be called a king.

Always a class act. Probably one of the best fundamental players of all time. He should have been a Celtic. Good luck in retirement.

I'm lucky to see his entire 19 year run. One of the best I've seen with my own eyes.

Greatest PF ever.

He's top 6 for me, behind Jordan, Russell, Magic, Kareem, and LeBron.

I'll miss Timmy.  Truly enjoyed watching him play.

Duncan was the absolute perfect player to build a team around. A stud on both ends of the court. A class act both on and off the court and loved by every teammate he has ever had. He is living proof that you don't have to be a total dick like Jordan, Kobe and Lebron in order to will your team to a championship.

Best player of his generation.

I'm a little disappointed he won't come back for 1 more season and play 20 mpg as a backup. He could still help the Spurs.

I hated Kobe, I loved Timmy. His quiet retirement says it all. Such a fantastic player to watch - everything he did was efficient and with purpose.
