I would HIGHLY prefer Cousins to Griffin.

It makes no sense why Cousins wouldn't be available. They have very little chance of even making the playoffs this year, let alone contend any time soon, and the longer they hold onto Cousins the less valuable he gets in return. They could legitimately jumpstart their rebuild with good pieces and picks to build around. Even a package of Amir, Smart, Brown, and the 2017 pick for Cousins and Collisin/Mcelmore would give them one of the brightest young cores in the league with Smart, Brown, WCS, Skal, an almost sure fire top-3 pick in 2017 and another probable mid-lottery pick with their own pick or the Philly swap.

I never expected the Kings to trade Cousins this offseason. He's got 2 years left on his deal, they just hired a new coach who they're hoping can get through to him, and they're moving into a new arena.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

I set it at 5.

According to sources, Griffin's 2k rating of 88 vs. DMC's 87 is one of the primary factors Celtics are heavily pursuing Blake Griffin as the main target rather than DMC. @ChrisBroussardsmultiplesauces

What's the point in trading for Bradley? I know Doc likes him but they won't have a decent SF if the trade goes through and I doubt Redick can play there.

It doesn't have to be their last move.  Maybe they'd trade for Gay?
Of course that's true. The following 3-team trade could work:
Celtics: Griffin.
Kings: Amir Johnson (maybe some picks too).
Clippers: Bradley and Gay

Obviously I don't know how desperate the Kings are to dump Gay as it could affect their asking price.

Last I heard on WEEI it was a 3 team, built around Crowder, Gay and Griffin.

Correct.  The time to get Cousins will be in January or February.  At that point they'll still see things aren't working.  Also, ideally the Nets will be cruising towards a bottom three record, which will increase the value of that pick.  (Not that it isn't valuable now, but as uncertainty is removed, value will increase.)

TP, thanks. I can get on board with his perspective pretty easily -- that rumor seems inaccurate. Interedting that he implies the Celtics are leaking it to inflate the value of our assets. Do other GMs actually fall for that, though? I don't think many engaged fans would perceive these guys to have similar value, especially relative to respective teams (i.e. Crowder is very valuable to our success).

Oh, I agree (and have said recently) that I don't think any Cousins deal happens until the trade deadline. However, any realistic GM/owner would have seen the writing on the wall already this offseason. Presumably,, if they'd let it be known that he's available right now and start a trade war for him, then they could maximize his value while it is at its highest. For example, what happens if he suffers a major injury in the first half of the season? So normatively I don't think it makes sense to keep him until then, though I ultimately expect that to happen.

I guess Bob Ryan has already talked about it so the number is 0?

He speculated/unintelligibly blabbered about Griffin and didn't say he had heard anything himself. I want this to be "real" there's just no writers mentioning it as of now.

Well, nobody realistically believed that this was the actual backbone of the deal. Those could be the actual pieces, but that certainly wasn't the arrangement of the trade. If anything, crowder and Gay would both go to LA with something like Amir and draft compensation going to Sacramento. That trade doesn't even work financially for us anyways.
