I'll take a guy who works hard and needs to learn how to score over a player who can score and is lazy everywhere else.  His talent level is there.  He's similar to marcus that way to me.  The Celtics are geniuses drafting these kinds of guys. Once their offense catches up look out.  AB is the same thing.  Ainge is a great drafter.  Marcus and Jaylen haven't had the amount of time AB did yet to develop.  They are more talented than AB.

AB could shoot. He shot 37.5% in college from 3. These guys can't shoot. I'm worried the offense never comes around.

It is a mother trucking joke that we even have to have this thread. Dude is a beast, gets to the rim at will. He shirks his defender with ease, gets fouled, and goes to the line. I realize that he is not finishing well at the rim right now, but this will change as confidence goes up. I don't care if ever becomes a REAL shooter, but he needs to get that free throw down. With that, in his first 2 years I can see him getting 12, 5, 3 with a block or two. Kid is going to be good. If he develops a jumper that bolts up to 18 per game, and we are looking at minimal other improvements to make him an All-Star. We are not looking at James Young here folks. Kid is focused, he's borderline trucking angry out there. We need that intensity.

His  Positivity is contagious and aggression make for some great things to watch. His stroke is not bad either IMO. Long Live 8 threads about the stud, too. Let me know when he tweets.

Here goes;

1)   He’s the type of big-bodied, agile, long-armed SF that can defend a Lebron James, in the mold of Kawhi Leonard or Andre Iguodala. Kind of important if you’re in the East.
2)   Defensively he could potentially defend four positions. That means you can throw him out there with other players like Smart, Crowder, Horford etc. and have a completely switchable defense, one in which you never get caught in a severe mismatch in a pick and roll.
3)   He gets to the hoop and shoots FTs.
4)   His jumpshot form is good. Far from broken. He could have a nice stroke if he keeps working.
5)   With his size and athleticism he will likely be a strong rebounder from the SF position.
6)   He’s (reportedly) smart, a hard worker, and not a prima donna.
7)   He’s got some major “dog” in him and wants to rip opposing players’ heads off.

But above all… DUDE IS 19 YEARS OLD AND IT’S SUMMER LEAGUE, EVERBODY CALM DOWN.

Defense was great last night - especially in the first half. He was all over the court, but still locked in on his assignment. He was a difference maker on that end and that is how he will get minutes on the Cs this season.

I get that his shot sucked last night, but he did hit two threes the night before. His drives don't look as strong as the first game, but that could be because of his knee (I hope so). If you combine his driving from game 1, three-point shooting from game 2, and defense from game 3, you have a pretty killer player.

Like it or not, folks, the guy is 19 - he is going to be super-inconsistent. All we can hope for is that he maintains the same intensity and desire to get better.

I call it SLS Summer League Syndrome. Everyone is trying to make a team and guys who play good team basketball in summer league dont really stand out.

YOu see it a lot when teams put their young guys in at the end of blowouts.

There are two things I would like to see from Jaylen not this season but next. Learning how to change speeds. He has alot of John Wall in him in that he goes a million miles per hour and has to learn to slow down and change speeds. Lastly, how to get better separation in the tripe threat or on your pull up shot to get consistent space and form on his jumper.

Very encouraged by him guarding bigs last night.  Even if he has shooting issues this year, he can help a lot as a small ball PF running the floor and cutting.  He has a lot of promise right away in transition.

Reminds me of the hate last year on Rozier because he couldn't shoot. And Rozier was older. He has the same tools as Rozier did when he was 19. Let's see if he can tighten his handle and improve his shoot, as well as touch around the rim.
