I guess they just went "Let's get whatever talent is out there".

Delete Rose
Add Rondo
Add Wade

I liked the Rose move, hes spoiled potatoes in Chicago, needs a fresh start, and they got some playable pieces for him. That is the only move that I like.

Rondo and Wade don't like each other. If Ray Allen couldn't stand Rondo, imagine Wade?

Bringing Rondo to a team playing for Pace and Space? Bringing Wade to a team of Pace and Space? Are they going to add a second basketball to each game? They both have Velcro mitts.

I think these are all moves to keep butts in seats, but I think the chemistry will absolutely crush them.

I think if the knew Wade was a possibility there is every chance they don't sign Rondo.

They've got one of the worst ownership groups in sports.

That's what.

I was think the exact same thing... Its only going to benefit the Celtics... The Bulls will be bad and will look to eventually trade Butler... maybe DA will now get a better deal

Panic mode.

They got cold feet at the idea of a full blown rebuild and decided to put together the "dollar store super team" instead.  (Forgot who coined that term on Twitter but its golden).

They are looking like a 7 seed right now. No idea what they are doing.

TP, it is Golden, thanks for bringing it to the thread.

Yeah I think this is good for the Nets pick in that Chicago will be clearly better, and the heat still have good players in Whiteside and dragic. Maybe too good to blow that up.

I think Riley made the right move but it's still nice to see him be unsuccessful. Such a loser.

http://www.basketballinsiders.com/6-head-scratching-nba-free-agency-deals/

Quote
Rajon Rondo, Chicago Bulls (two years, $30 million) – On the one hand, the Bulls really needed a starting point guard in the wake of the Derrick Rose trade, and when Rondo met with Bulls head coach Fred Hoiberg during the free agency courting process, they watched enough film for both of them to believe he’d be a strong fit in the team’s up-tempo push offense. There could not have been a ton of interest for the beleaguered point guard elsewhere, so to have a respected NBA team like the Chicago Bulls make an offer had to have been a relief for Rondo, even if only the first year of the deal is sure to play out.

All that said, this is a move that makes no sense for a Bulls team that said after trading Rose they were hoping to get younger and more athletic, and Rondo is neither of those things. He also is someone who will take the ball out of Jimmy Butler’s hands, which is something Butler cannot be all that happy about. Plus, if the team was concerned about Butler’s on-court chemistry with Rose, they’re going to be even more unhappy with watching him try to share the ball with Rondo, who shoots even worse than the Bulls’ old point guard did.

Worst of all, the Bulls have at the very least always prided themselves on bringing in good locker room guys, and Rondo absolutely is not that. He probably will only be a Bull for a single season (as the second year is only partially guaranteed), but that’s more than enough time to frustrate the team’s lone star and stunt the growth of some of the team’s younger players.

Adding Wade doesn't make much sense either. A team that needed to blow things up headed by a front office who is more concerned with getting into the playoffs than winning them. Looks like a couple of wasted years for Butler after which his trade value will be diminished greatly with but one year left before he he can become a UFA.

BTW, Tyler Johnson, Brooklyn Nets (four years, $50 million) and Harrison Barnes, Dallas Mavericks (four years, $94 million) were two others in the article.

When you think of it, they could tank hard and send butler for 2017 nets pick + young players and rebuild with 2 stud in a pack draft.
But no, they prefer to make their chemistry worst.
lol

Wade can still play - he doesn't have it in him probably to carry a team anymore, but if he can take on a role as Butler's #2 he remains very dangerous offensively.

Rondo put up some of the best stats of his career last year.

There's a lack of shooting, but all three of those guys are very good players with exceptional talent.  With the right bigs, that could be a more dangerous team then it's given credit for.

Wade and Rondo are both tough guys who love the big stage.  Those guys were built for the playoffs.

If you can't contend, make as much money as possible.  Wade going to his hometown Bulls will sell a lot of tickets and merch and be good PR for the franchise.  And if they intend to keep Butler this is a way of showing him they're serious about trying to stay competitive.  I don't think it's much more complicated than that.

They have to be really lucky staying healthy but if so, I like Chicago to make the playoffs. People hate rondo now in Boston but I'm willing to bet he is a playoff stud again.
