If we could get Okafor without giving up Crowder, Bradley, or a Brooklyn pick, I'd go for it in a heartbeat.  Just not sure if that's going to be possible.

I don't think it will be either. Not unless he's played himself out of the rotation by trade deadline, but I can't imagine they'd bench him just for trade value concerns.

News out of Chicago is Jimmy Butler sold his house an is now renting. I live in the pizza capital of the world and heard this tonight kinda interesting.

its not a rumor unless you have a source - please let us know where you got this information. can we get a URL?

I'd offer Rozier, Young, Memphis 1st and LAC 1st for Okafor

TP. I actually think that is a fair offer for both teams. Someone email this to Ainge.

There's no way the Sixers would accept that.

Lol okay dude. What choice does philly have. No team has even been interested and they have 3 centers. They have no leverage. But let's throw logic out the window and pay more than we need to. Thank god you guys aren't the gm.

He never said he would pay more, just that it would take more for Philly to do it.  Thinking that it's too much for the Celtics and not enough for Philly aren't mutually exclusive

Overreaction on my part. But I don't think the celtics will offer any Brooklyn pick for him imo.

I could see the 2018 BRK first being included, but not the 2017 swap
I'm bitter.

Any deal with Philly begins with a competent guard. It might with Chicago, too, once they get the sense that they've signed the league's top ball-stopper, but not now.

Any offer I make to Philly begins with Marcus Smart. Let him flop and dent the rims in the City of Brotherly Love. Plus, if Brown is the Hall of Famer so many here suggest, the defensive stopper replacement is right there.

Then, any package of any of our own and other team's picks not named Brooklyn - and I say this with trepidation, knowing full well Ainge's love of flawed projects - and see what you can get done. They can have any of the kid guards along with Smart, too.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/celtics/2016/07/bulpett_next_steps_for_celtics_aren_t_so_clear_now

In the article, there were some very interesting pieces:
Quote
Sources tell us the C’s are still holding the line on their offers from prior to the draft. They will make trades if teams come around to their price.

and then there's this:
Quote
Butler fills an obvious need, one that remains, while Okafor could play inside and allow Horford to spend more time at his reportedly preferred position of power forward.

There are indications the Celtics may still be able to do business with the Bulls and 76ers, but both sides will have to get creative.

Quote
Could there still be places here for Jared Sullinger and Tyler Zeller? Doubtful, if only for the fact that each of the restricted free agents should get an offer that the Celts won’t match and that would preclude the players from accepting the one-year qualifying offers to stay.

I think he's really flirting with the idea to look out for trades...

Waiting on the Sullinger shoe to drop. Then we shall see what happens...

They have to do something.  As he points out, Turner's loss is a lot bigger than many realize because none of our guards are great distributors of the basketball.   That means lengthy periods of time  when they get very few easy baskets.  And that means a lot of L's.

Sully maybe going somewhere else in a 3-way Smart and a 1st for Okafur?

kinda think so, because we haven't picked up on the Jerebko and Johnson contracts yet. I think Danny's trying to work something out.

This article is timed perfectly.

Steve also mentions:
Quote
In addition to his defense, Turner was most important as a ballhandler and creator off the bench. Now Smart has to step up and become a more polished and trustworthy decision maker. Or the Celts could easily go more with Rozier, who may be poised for a very good year.

If I read this correctly, its either Smart or Rozier who is gone in a trade.

Sully is just going to walk.  No idea why people are forcing all these trade ideas.   Must be bored.

It's an off day in Summer League and there's no news on Brown's knee, so...
