Let me start off by saying I love the Horford signing. I think he pretty much is the perfect fit on our roster. He provides scoring, interior defense, rim protection, not to mention leadership and legitimacy that Boston can be a FA destination. That being said, his glaring weakness is rebounding.

Amir +JJ will almost certainly be picked up, but that leaves me concerned that one of the worst rebounding teams last year is going to be truly awful on the boards.

So, what do you guys think as far as trades/free agents/linups that could help up improve.

Or perhaps i'm overblowing the issue entirely and it will be fine  :D

Horford is not a bad rebound as people make him out. The guy is averaging 8.5 in his career. The decline of his board numbers is due to the system Coach Bud is utilizing because he is forced to switch in the perimeter most of the time.

Our off season isn't over yet. We need some depth on the front line. I think it's a case now of trying not to lock in long term salary. Get those 1+1 deals going

Horford actually has averaged 8.9 boards a game.  For his first 6 seasons he was a 10 rebound a game guy. The last few years his rebounds have declined because they have had him playing on the perimeter.

Horford is a very good PNR defender, that means he is relied upon switching and trapping on D. That means he has less rebounding opportunities now. The decline in rebounding coinciding with the trend towards small ball and how bigs defend regarding it.

Where is Ezeli going to go now. I thought he'd go back to the warriors but i t's reporting he isn't now.

they are losing Barnes, Ezeli and Bogut for Durant. I was right the first time actually.  I thought they might actually get to keep Ezeli on second look but all 3 are toast?

...Sully?

Yeah, he was so great in the playoffs.  4.3 RPGs

Amir had 6.4 RPG
Horford has 7.1 RPG

Sully had like 8.3 RPG last season.  So it is a slight dropoff by adding Horford but you get a better shooter, more points and some blocks.   Some leadership over Sully's Eatership.

There is a reason, no one is throwing money at him in free agency folks.   One would think some people would finally get it now.

Comes down to Ezili, or Sullinger. Those are the best options on the market. C's blog isnt going to like this, but Sullinger is still better at this time. No doubt in my mind. Offer Sully 2 years with a team option for the 3rd year, give him market rate for comparable bigs. If he wants to go to a basketball hellhole for more $, then bring in Ezili.

The Celtics were an above-average offensive-rebounding team last year, and below-average defensive rebounding team.  All in all, near average overall.  They'll probably be similar this year.  It is not a major concern.
