Just tried to figure this out.   Posted this on Reddit, but I figured I'd share here as well:

I'm taking the lazy approach and fact-checking based on this list of teams that have had 4 or more allstars:  http://www.nba-allstar.com/players/lists/most-players-same-team.htm ... Apparently having 4+ all-stars has happened 7 times in history.  I'm gonna go down the list one by one right now and compare it to the All-NBA teams:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All-NBA_Team

2015 Hawks (4 All-stars - 0 All-NBA)
2011 Celtics (4 All-stars - 0 All-NBA)
2006 Pistons (4 All-Stars - 2 All-NBA)
1998 Lakers (4 All-stars - 1 All-NBA)
1983 76ers (4 All-Stars - 2 All-NBA)
1975 Celtics (4 All-Stars - 1 All-NBA)
1962 Celtics (4 All-Stars - 3 All-NBA)

Someone feel free to double-check my research, but it seems to me that we have NEVER had a team with 4 All-NBA Players.

Last year all four of Steph (1st team) Durant (2nd team), Draymond (2nd team), and Klay (3rd team) were All-NBA Players.   This is an unprecedented collection of talent.  And they are all in their mid 20s.    Pretty ridiculous.

I didn't look very hard, but the 14/15 Clippers had 3 guys make the All NBA team.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver,

Completely unprecedented. The 03-04 Lakers had Shaq and Kobe and then Malone and Payton were 2 and 3 years removed from all-NBA appearences but thats obviously very different. They were not all-NBA players when they got to LA.

Good catch.  Oddly, it looks like the Clippers only had two all-stars that season.  D'Andre Jordan didn't make the all-star team, but was 3rd Team All-NBA.

Like I said, I just went down the list of teams that had 4 all-stars to see how many had 4 all-nba players.    I'd have to guess there were a lot of teams that had 2 or 3 All-NBA players, but I wasn't looking at those teams since I only looked at teams with 4 All-Stars.

Regardless, I can't find a single team in history that has had 4 All-NBA players.  Can you?

The Golden State 4 all-Stars, are all in their prime.

Its' not that their "all NBA" or former "all-NBA"... we're talking 4 of the leagues top 10-12 players.

The lack of a 3rd team hinders that, but the Celtics at one point in time easily had 5 All NBA players on it in the early to mid-60's.  For example, 62/63 had Russell, Cousy, Heinsohn.  The following year Hondo joined Russell and Heinsohn and the year after that Sam Jones joined Russell.  But you see that is rub, I'd be very surprised if the Warriors next year actually get 4 players on the All NBA team.  There just won't be enough touches

I've personally lost a lot of respect for Durant, his move essentially equates to if Lebron joined the Celtics in 2010. It is unprecedented because no one with his skills would even want to join a direct rival like that, I always thought KD to GSW was just a media beat up because of this.

Think of the backlash that Lebron copped for joining his close friends from a team that couldn't give him anything close to talented, Durant should in theory be disliked more.

Boston move was the only one that made sense for the reason that this would have been his team not Westbrook's.

Eh. West has done an amazing job.  I grew up in the 80's. The lakers were an amazing team.  So are the Celtics.  I like what both teams are doing.  West by the numbers is really the best GM in basketball for what he has put together there right now.  But that's just because he's on top right now.  Danny is just as good.  Just has to get there where it looks that way.

There is no animosity from me overly.  It's fun to see the competition and different ways teams do things. Also educational.

it was very close to going the other way.  I like our team too.  We just have to get there.  I don't want to be like the lakers in the 60's.

West deserves credit where credit is due though.  People talk like Russell was this great guy and Durant isn't, but had the situation been different he may have played for Golden State.

We had all those guys. Bird, Mchale, Parish, Walton, dj, ainge.   Russell, COusy, Heinsohn etc.. Were they bad people? I don't know. Hats off to jerry west.  We have to turn it up.

The rising salary cap allows for these type of super teams.  If we had drafted like GS and still gone after Durant we'd be in that position.  Even when we had KG, Ray and Pierce I always kind of questioned by Ainge stood pat on certain things. He did try to add Green but eh.

Players like good weather.  Big money. Great teams.  It is an advantage in ways to be on the west coast but we have our own advantages and hard working gritty style.  We have to use that to our advantage.

This is what I don't like about the media is we have to keep our identity and what makes us great.

there is a lot less of that nowadays and difference in identity between teams. You don't see different styles like the pistons back in the day or the differences between the celtics and lakers etc.

I'm going through those Bill Russell teams of the 60's when the league was a lot smaller and it looks like they routinely had 3 players make an all-NBA team (there were only 2 teams then) but never 4.
1957, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1966, 1968, 1969, 1974, 1976, 1981, 1984, 1986, 2008, 2024

They maybe can give the 86 Celtics a run for their money.

the nba is a bit unfair right now. GS is basically the new age lakers of the 80's. The difference is then they had 3 guys.  Magic, Kareem and worthy and we had 3 guys. Bird, Mchale and parish.  The way the cap is now they just made it 4 and kept pushing towards that.  It's like they got Russell instead of us.

I don't know.  Those 80's teams were loaded throughout and so were the Lakers.

That's more reason for us to play harder though.  We have brad stevens.  We have the right coach to be the underdog and get those pieces.

All these guys get paid so much money hopefully we have guys who play hard and dive for loose balls.  EVen our stars.

It's definately not in our favor how things are weighted but we have to be smarter and tougher and even better.  It makes for good competition if players really want to win.

Our guys played hard last year.  We have to get better and play harder.  We upgraded our talent.  Have to do it moreso.
