Yah, we lost out on a guy with great skills, but questionable heart and loyalty (to OKC).
Screw him, time to move on, but not hastily out of anger and the need to fill the void but in a cool measured way, not giving up on our principles both ethically and strategically.

People are asking "Can we move Horford, now", and "will he take a 1&1 contract" and other questions. How would we look to players (including our own) and agents if we tried to get out of or modify our commitment to Horford? Really, that's who we've become. We try to do that, and we're worse than that scumbag Durant.

And to those who have suggested trading IT, you really want to do that right now, at this moment in time??? The guy is the face of the franchise. He personally recruited Horford and was one of the main reasons why we had a chance with Durant, and people want to include him in a deal right now?

Yah, I get that it's a business, but that type of move will at best alienate players (including our own) and agents, and at worst it will bring on some really bad karma/juju.

I'm all for trading any player on the roster right now except for IT..let's get IT/Horford some serious help...I'm all for that, but not at the expense of IT....right now.

Ainge isn't panicking. The games still need to be played and Lebron will sooner or later go down with an injury which means the East will be ours ripe for the taking..then we meet the 4 horsemen and they get suffocated by the tenacious perimeter defense of Brad Stevens. We win the 2017 title in 6 games and KD the loser goes to his corner contemplating what could have been had he decided to go to Boston in the summer of 2016
.. 8) ;D

this is what a lot of people are doing I feel.  There are only so many durants in this world.  putting all our hopes on him is not good.  trading for half assed players isnt good either.  we need to really think this through and come up with something that can actually work.

Considering I never expected to get Durant, you're right.

It's time to start spinning these alleged assets off. The Horford move carries with it a definitive message, and now Ainge surely has some options lined up to follow through sans Durant.

We need to put together our own group of guys that can compete with teams like that.  The pistons were able to do it.

That's what is on my mind today is how can we do this.

Stevens went head to head with Duke with much less surefire talent and came up 2 points short.  We need to turn that around somehow.

Durant still isn't out of the question down the road. Obviously we can get a guy like that you do that, but we need to do our own thing.  We can't put all our hopes on that.

We need to be more open minded to other ways. I'm not opposed to adding a guy like Kevin Love if it leads to something else and improves our talent level.  Drafting a player. Going after Paul George.  There have got to be other ways.

People will scoff but that's not panicking how i mean it.  It's just being open minded to other ways.

Like your optimism. The one thing I don't get is us trading with the cavs. Danny would have to know it makes us BETTER than Cleveland. He'd have to know he's winning the deal while The cavs would have to believe the same.

Now that we see KD's true colors, he would want to jump ship again and join the Celtics.  8)

I like this mentality. I would LOVE to see a team do to Golden State what Detroit did to the Lakers. And as it is, we match up pretty well against GSW anyways....with a few extra pieces, we could do well against them in a playoff series. There's just one problem though: how do you obtain the talent of a DeMarcus Cousins, without sacrificing the core of your team? Or mortgaging your future by trading away your draft picks?

Is it really mortgaging our future to trade a bunch of draft picks, none of which are guaranteed to be lottery picks, for a 26 year old All-NBA center? It's not like he's 32 and our other guys are in their thirties. Only Horford is older than 30 on this team. We can afford to skip the draft the next three years, particularly after all of our picks the last two years. I say package all these assets and see if Vlade bites. It's really our only hope of competing for a championship this year and the next.

Can I have Klay instead?

Boston signed Horford and now they are going to panic? Sure, they wanted Durant. But they knew it was a long shot.

Maybe some people here didn't have a realistic perspective on this whole thing.
