Maybe this deserves its own thread but does anyone have who is currently locked up on the Warriors roster now?

I have Curry, Thompson, Durant, Iggy, Green, and Livingston.  That's it right?

Yep.

Essentially, yes. Their bench is going to be horrific. They won't be able to get decent bench players the way money is being thrown around currently.

lol at everyone on here saying the 4-time scoring champion with an MVP award ruined his legacy by going to a team where he'll have a good chance at winning a championship.
i mean, do you think this WON'T tarnish his reputation?

Of course it will.

It depends who he listens to.  Family and friends will love him no matter what.  Sycophants will continue to worship him. Hometown GSW fans will go bonkers over him.  Shirt sales will be strong. Eventually, an "anything's possible" moment will occur along with (perhaps) a finals MVP award following victory over The King.

I think he can surround himself with admirers who won't care about the bitter fans from OKC and Boston.   He'll retire a young, rich, multi-time champion.  He'll be considered a top 50 player (maybe top 10 or 20) of all-time.  No one will codemn this decision when they retire his number as a GSW or when they glorify him upon induction to the HOF.  I doubt strongly that KD looks back at this decision with regret.

It definitely won't hurt his legacy. Everyone cried the same story when Lebron jumped to Miami and everyone was wrong then, too.

If Durant's decision today had been to retire, he'd be a first ballot HoF'er and probably be considered one of the top 25 players of all time. Whether or not you like the decision, going to GS doesn't change ny of that.

Lebron didn't go to a 73 win team that just knocked him out of the playoffs to play 2nd (or 3rd) fiddle to the reigning MVP.  This is much more egregious.  He will be remembered as a guy afraid of competition and wanted to be handed rings in the middle of his prime.  There is nothing great or inspirational about that.
Bron and Bosh joined a 47 win team (that had to dump key contributors to make cap space) that hadn't been out of the first round of the playoffs in 4 seasons.

That would be like if Durant and Horford joined this 48 win team, honestly.  Very little difference.  The main reason people freak out about LeBron's decision is the method he did it and the parade they held the day after.

What Durant did is obscenely spineless on a whole nother level.  It would be like if in 2010, after the Celtics knocked off the Cavs and narrowly lost to the Lakers in Game 7, LeBron decided, "Well I don't think I'm ever getting over this Celtics hump - so I'm signing with them".

The difference:  The Celtics had won 50 games that year, Ray Allen was 34 years old, Paul pierce was 32 years old and Kevin Garnett was 33 years old.

On the flip side: The warriors won 73 games this year, Steph Curry is 27 years old, Draymond Green is 25 years old and Klay Thompson is 25 years old.

Ooh... and lets not forget that the Thunder were up 3-1 against the Warriors in the Conference Finals and choked it away.   We knocked off the Cavs in 6 games during the 2nd round back in 2010.  Bron could have been slightly forgiven if he decided his path past Boston was too difficult and he needed to join them to succeed in life.

I mean, at the very least, Bron and Bosh formed their own thing with Wade.  It wasn't even guaranteed to work.  Their supporting cast was trash.  They had to give away a 21 year old who had been taken 2nd in the draft and was coming off a season averaging 15 points and 6 rebounds.  That would be like if Boston had to just give away Marcus Smart for a 2nd rounder to make space for Durant and Horford.

Bottom line:  This is by far the most disgustingly anti-competitive bush-league thing I've ever seen someone do in Sports.  Durant will be crucified for it and rightly so.  This is a loser mentality.  It's literally "can't beat em/join em".  He should be booed aggressively everywhere he goes.

The whole thing of Durant deciding for GS because of its "healthy"  "all-friendly" "team first environment" simply makes no sense in sports. What moves the league and any kind of sport is competition, that's why watching Globetroters or the Dream Team at the Olympics is only interesting once in a while.

Lebron moved to Miami to have a better shot at a title. To COMPETE for a title. It was partly to be able to beat the Celtics, who prevented him from getting to the finals with the Cavs. Durant's move, although it may fail, leaves competition and riralry behinde in hopes of getting titles. After last season, KD goal had to be to beat the Warriors, not to pickup a new 2nd tier rival.

This.  And if everything goes well for the Warriors it ruins the competition in the NBA.

I really hope the remaining decent free agents get scooped up with teams with cap space left, and the Warriors are forced to fill out the rest of their roster with D league players.

It'd be like if Barkley ran and joined the Bulls in the 96 offseason.  At least he wouldn't've dropped some PR BS about why he did it though.

EDIT:  Maybe Shaq in 96 would be a better comparison as Barkley was at least getting old at that time.

Lebrons TV's announcement was advertising for his Nike products. It was heartbreaking and depressing because advertisement guided the way he let the World know about his decision.

On the other hand, I can't stop thinking Durant decision has been HEAVILY influenced by Nike. It is a stroke of genious against UnderArmor. Last year, there was a competition: Cavs and Lebron success were Nike's too, while Curry and GSW represented Underarmor. Now, any kind of success of Curry will be overshadowed by Durant and Nike.

Nike's got 2 of the top 3 players in the league and just neutralized the growth of the ascending star Curry in terms of possibility of advertisement.

I cant imagine KD will have the stones to bolt GS if they dont win a title with the kind of backlash he will get from people this year.

Or if Magic or Larry bailed on their teams to play for the other after losing a tough fought competition against each other.  It's pathetic.

Nah, Magic and Larry were both more than capable of winning on their own.  Not so much for Durant.

Yes, imagine Larry going to the Lakers because he lost vs Magic last season.

The only thing I thought was bad about was he tried to make it sound like it was about a city with growth opportunities and helping his growth as a man.

Just be honest,  say you want a ring and cut this BS!
