I just don't see how he suddenly stops being a great player just because he decides that getting the most touches on offense is less important to him than winning championships.

I get what you are saying (at least I think I do): The talent is still there, but obviously it may not be 100% used, so to speak.  I think he would still be a great player as well--talent-wise--but his legacy is going to take a hit in terms of he went from being a true leader to a Robin.

I really have no problem with KD going to GSW.  Look LBJ is the best player of this generation; love him or hate him you can't argue otherwise.  He teamed up with 2 max contract legitimate all stars in Miami, and he did it again in Cleveland (okay we all know Love has not really lived up quite yet but he's just the third wheel ala Ray Allen and Chris Bosh).  LBJ went to the Finals how many times in a row now?  I believe it's six.

So now you think it's unfair for other stars to join a team that can challenge this?  The odds of OKC drafting a 3rd max/ASG caliber player is minimal given they will not be in the lottery except the odd years when KD or Russ are hurt.  Funny thing is they sort of had that with Harden.  But there's no way him and Russ could coexist.  So they are just stuck unless they can get a big name to sign on with them, or if KD and Russ look for greener pastures.

I don't really respect LeBron for joining forces with other big stars and winning his titles that way.  He only jumped back to CLE when the league gave them 3 out of 4 #1 picks in a row against tremendous odds, but that's a entirely different "topic".  But that's the way of the game when free agency exists.

I agree that it changes his legacy, potentially.

But my supposition is that if he chooses the Warriors, it means he would prefer to be a guy that won a title as just one of a group of a very good players on a great team, as opposed to being a lead scorer with awesome counting stats over his whole career who never wins a title.

You say "just because he decides that getting the most touches on offense is less important to him than winning championships" - I say riding the coat tails of better players because he's not confident enough in his own abilities to be the leader and primary figure of a championship team.

And I said he wouldn't be a superstar anymore, though still a star, not a great player as you said. Instead of being MVP-level, he'd be more like Butler/Derozan level of a secondary star.

Total weenus move. His legacy would be forever remembered as jumping ship to Curry's team to win.

My thoughts exactly. Going to the Warriors and winning shows nothing about him as a player.

He would join an amazing team, who would stay amazing, and win. Proves nothing about his "greatness"

I won't be angry or anything but I'd think it was way worse than Lebron leaving Cleveland. Just opinion. I respect if people don't agree. I'd be bummed as a Celt fan ofcourse #1. But I know we shouldn't expect it. I'd also be bummed that I think the general Boston sports fan who isn't a die hard Celt fan 1st will continue to think " the NBA is rigged, players are all selfish etc. I should have thicker skin but it's a downer when friends / coworker's do t ha d the passion for the celts . Even though they're fair weather fans, it's fun to share the spirit and celebrate the success of your team having a chance at a title .

Yep. The only thing it would prove is that he's not good enough to lead a team to a title as the best player.

Hopefully he's not like that.

He's not the alpha Boston needs. Screw him. Wants to ride Riley Currys coat tails.

I'd understand it less from the GSW side? Why mess with that team chemistry and how that system already works? It ain't broke so what needs fixing.

When Miami and Boston made super teams they stated with one current star on low playoff/Lotto teams, not a team who already went to the finals twice and came within minutes of winning both.

I think it'd be much harder for him to be himself if he went to a SA/GSW as opposed to staying in OKC or going to Boston.
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

The difference here is if Durant wins a title with GSW he is just a great player on a dream team but if Durant wins a title in Boston he's a GOD. Forever known n loved in Celtic lore with a jersey n statue in bronze next to Larry Bird, Kevin Garnet and Bill Russell. That's the difference...

My reaction will be "Get Gasol!" For a short term deal. Gasol is just biding his time, waiting for the KD decision. He will get a nice payday. Gasol and Horford are enough to challenge the Cavs. He's the 20/10 guy they need in the middle who plays small or big.

My next reaction is surprise. I don't figure KD to sign with a West rival. The folks in OKC might not forgive him.

You're entitled to feel the way you're gonna feel about it.

Like I said, if that's what KD chooses, it means he doesn't care about how it looks. He just wants to win.

I agree.  KD is a basketball junkie , he'd want his name hung from the Garden , not some off the wall city expansion building that may not even hold a team in 25 years.  With his jersey locked in a storage closet somewhere forgotten

Once that OKC team loose. KD and Westbrooke ....it's toast .......nobody is play n there
