You all should hop over to BlogABull if only to glance at the headline.  Neither the staff nor the fans there are particularly happy, to put it lightly.

CelticsBlog isn't the only place with lots of negativity.

Judging by how this was framed in the main page post, when it's all said and done I expect them to be somewhat pleasantly surprised. He's not as bad as they think he is.

HAHAHAHA what a horrible fit! I guess they are going to trade Butler to us after all when he demands a trade lol

A ridiculously ball-dominant point guard who can't shoot playing alongside Butler. Where have we heard that before?  ;D ;)

Devil's advocate, Rondo shot 35% from 3 in Dallas and 37% from 3 last year in Sac.

*leaves thread before the pitchforks come out*
I don't think they'll be worse for losing Rose and gaining Rondo that's for sure.

Rondo drops dimes. He works hard. And he is unselfish. He understands the game more than most coaches. If he could shoot 75 percent from the ft line, he would be far more offensive oriented.

And he shoots the ball alot better than Marcus Smart.
For the life of me I don't understand the hate.
But then, Avery Bradley got the same treatment on this blog
until recently.

I suspect that Bulls fans haven't forgotten Celtics/Bulls series. I hope Rondo has a great year.

I'm not surprised that people who think Rondo works hard and is unselfish are having a hard time understanding the hate.

Garpax strikes again! Horrendous fit. Hoiball is pace and space, ball movement, and they signed a ball-pounding, no-shooting dinosaur. Butler is going to BEG for a trade.

I am sure this has been pointed out but Rondo ran a pretty fast pace offense in his last half season Boston and Sacramento's pace was among the league leaders. It's the 4 time all defense guy who no longer plays defense that might gripe.

The King's were the fastest paced team last year.  Yet somehow the standard refrain from Rondo haters is that all he does is pound the ball.  I agree about Rondo's defense being lacking.  I think the ACL injury took its biggest toll on his lateral quickness.  However being on really bad defensive teams like the Kings and Mavs doesn't help.

I called this! It's not as bad as you think, Rondo has improved his jump shot to a respectable level. It isn't a perfect fit but they can't have Butler as the only ball handler

I purley think it's motivation and personel that causes Rondo to not bother on defense. Whens he locks in he is still a fantistic defender, but I believe he saves his body (lower back) and energy a lot of the time if he can't see his team competing at a high level. I'm a big Rondo fan, but even his poor defensive effort has tested me since 2012, because he would be a max player if he played defense at his highest level. I believe this attiude came from back when our big 3 would save themselves in the regular season, and turn it on the playoffs FWIW.

Sacramento's poor defense as a whole could be attitude issues. They not only had Rondo, but Demarcus Cousins, Willie Caulie Stein and Rudy Gay. Players who should be plus defenders and vocal enought to set up high intensity defense and still they defended worse than the 76ers.

Coaching definitely plays a role.  Even in most of his best years coaching th Nuggets, Karl's teams were typically in the bottom half of the league in defensive rating, despite winning 50+ games.

Sacramento's defense was tanked by the horrid defensive performances of McLemore, Collison & Bellini this last year.  Seth Curry was pretty awful as well, though for fewer minutes.   Those guys were truly horrid on D and each one had a big target on his uniform for other teams to go after.
