How do you pass up being hometown buddies with Tom Brady, the greatest quarterback in NFL history, while being the biggest basketball superstar in Boston since Larry Bird? How do you pass up the opportunity to surpass Bird and Russell as the greatest Celtic of all-time, and catapult yourself into the conversation of GOAT? How do you pass up joining a team with all-star Horford, all-star Thomas, first-team all-defensive guard Bradley, and the third overall pick in the 2016 draft? How do you pass up the opportunity to win an NBA-record 18th world championship with world-renowned basketball coach Brad Stevens?

Just do it, KD. Just do it.

I love your spirit and most of your post and you get a TP, but...

...whatever it is I'm smoking, it's not as good as what you're smoking.

Dude is only 28. He might be around 10-14 more seasons. If he wins 4 or 5 championships in Boston, he's on par with LeBron, Kobe and Duncan. If they are part of the GOAT conversation, so is KD.

One would be cool. Let's get one. But even in your "not one, not two..." scenario, he ain't ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever gonna surpass Russell as the greatest Celtic of all-time.

Anything is possible. KD wins 5 or 6 in a row, I think that might just topple Russell. It's extremely unlikely, of course, but not impossible.

Just heard Broussard on ESPN say that the Jerry West conversation was originally scheduled for Friday, but they couldn't pull it off, so he agreed to chat Saturday.  I originally took the West call to think that Durant had kind of made up his mind and was checking back with GSW today.

Hearing what Broussard said tells me:

a) GSW didn't have their ducks in a row enough to have West connect on the day their pitch was scheduled
b) Durant probably agreed to hear from West at that meeting.

E.g. I don't take it to mean anything more then it was just a part of the original pitch.  Doesn't, in itself, signify he's learning towards the Warriors.

Oh crap.  Jerry West and Pat Riley? :o We're doomed, lol ;D.

What exactly is Jerry West going to tell him? Don't go to Boston because they beat the crap out of his Laker teams back in the day?

Come on .... Boston is a stone's throw from your home KD, and Boston is NBA Royalty. You become an instant mover and shaker. Your media power increases ten-fold. Nike wants you in Boston.

So is Jerry West, and if history has shown us anything, it's that Jerry West gets what Jerry West wants, whether it's Shaq, convincing Calipari not to take Kobe in 96 because he's The Logo or something, lol, threatening to resign from Golden State if they had traded Thompson for Kevin Love, and he presided over that 2012 draft, where the Warriors just got an incredible amount of talent despite only having one top 10 pick.  That's not a coincidence.  The man knows talent, and with Red gone, he's the best in the business, imo.  Still.  Underestimate him at your own risk, lol ;D.

I see your Jerry West, I raise you Tom Brady, Curt Shilling, City of Boston, Bill Russell, Danny Ainge, NE Patriots, Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins, and on and on and on ... :)

The only guy from that list who can trump West, imo, is Russell, but we'll see what happens.

Seems like Bulpett was the first to insist the decision would be tomorrow when others were sticking to the general 24-36 hour original timeline or expecting an announcement tonight.

Does it mean anything that a Boston guy had the more specific timing right first?

This is what I was thinking. Bulpett was the first to say it's tomorrow and it's not based off money? Then Blakely tweet out that Ainge is at the summer league, got off the plan with a grin on his face?

Honestly, "it's not about money" is best news for teams other than the Celtics, who have max cap space.  The Heat don't, for instance.  The Warriors can, but have to jump through a lot of hoops to get there.

That said, my source is confident it's down to Celtics and OKC.  KD was ready to choose Celtics today, but is having a really tough time leaving an organization and city he genuinely likes.
Don't play games with my heart like this... and also ..

Never expected him to come to us this year but have to say it's hugely deflating if he signs a long term deal with the Warriors. Why should the rest of us even bother?

Its all about context...it would be totally different if West was pulling KD to go to the Lakers, but he is not. He is trying to sell him on an also ran franchise. My hand trumps your West in this context. :) This history is richer and the challenge greater, game over. As the chant goes, BEAT LA !!! LOL

Lol, TP. They should have brought Gisele, tho ;D.

Perhaps because, for one thing, their defense will be significantly worse, imo.

That's despicable and behavior unbecoming of a Celtics fan, imo.

Those aren't C's fans. Those are Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.s who root for the Celtics.

Yep, no excuse for behavior like that. It's disgusting, frankly.

FYI, several sports websites still claiming this is a three-team race:

http://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/report-kevin-durants-decision-comes-down-to-thunder-warriors-celtics/

http://www.todaysfastbreak.com/from-the-courts/where-should-kevin-durant-sign/

Steve Kyler also said he wouldn't be surprised at all if KD chose Boston over the other two teams:

https://twitter.com/stevekylerNBA?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw

There's still hope, everybody, but as Faf says above, we've already greatly improved this offseason if not.

They are all using Blakely and his report...

It's done. Down to Miami OKC and GSW. I hate Riley.

Does Durant even have a girlfriend?  I was just thinking that not many men, gay or straight, could or would say no to Gisele, lol ;D.

He's not going to Miami. That tweet was clickbait. They don't have the space to give him the max.
