Waiters met with the Nets...but they turned him down!
that's funny

do we have a source on this?

The Nets spoke face-to-face with then-RFA Dion Waiters earlier this month in Vegas, league sources say, but proceeded without signing him.

Early indications are that the Nets haven't changed their stance on pursuing Dion Waiters now that he's an unrestricted free agent but ...

But it's a safe bet that the Nets' interest level in Dion Waiters is sure to be a topic this afternoon at the team's planned news conference

@saltlover thanks the tweets

any idea what the plans of the Nets in this free agency were?

I initially assumed they would go after every good FA, even at the risk of overpaying, because they had little to lose.

But they looks were very modest.

I think the plan was to go big after some young players who could be ready to take a step or two forward, but otherwise go with some cheaper veterans on shorter deals, and see if they mesh together well enough to win more than expected, and are able to convince a bigger free agent next summer that they aren't as bad as their reputation currently is.  They'll have about $50 million in cap room, so if they are unexpectedly competitive, then that might help them when most teams will have less to spend.

I don't think it will work (and I don't really think they do either, but what have they to lose?), and I think that Lopez gets moved at the trade deadline.

Nope, lol. Fun fact though: Mookie is now 49 years old. Times really flies...

He's also in jail I think for vehicular homicide or something.

Jason Terry confirmed that he will not re-sign with the Rockets.

Alonzo Gee is finalizing a one-year deal with the Pelicans. (I was waiting for it to be finalized to post, but every time I check it is still being 'finalized')

Alex Abrines who was mentioned earlier has signed a 3 year/18 mill deal with OKC. (32nd pick in 2013)

FRESH: Delonte West is attempting a comeback, according to his mother.

I sure as hell hope Danny doesn't turn to Jason Terry for some shooting.

He is my least favorite player on the C's in the last 8 to 10 years.

The guy has Lucky the Leprachaun tattooed on him, and you're going to choose to hate him more than anyone in a decade?  Even more than wastes of space like Jermaine O'Neal?

Anthony Barber (undrafted, point guard) agreed to a partially-guaranteed deal with the 76ers.

The Wizards officially announced their signing of Tomas Satoransky (pick #32 in 2012; guard)  on Thursday, reportedly 3 year/ 9 mill.

Other

Luwawu will prolly spend most of his time at the DLeague with Henderson and Stauskas getting most of the mins at SG.

Yeah, he's definitely talented.  I'm surprised that he wasn't drafted, honestly.

What's up with Monte I know he was injured at one point last year. He seems like a Jerkbo type role player.

Like Zeller he's a restricted free agent.  Teams expect Houston to match a reasonable offer, so why waste the time in making one.
