That pretty much sums it up ......even with the third pick and all the others ,   Ainge still managed to screw it up royally ..

Perfect ......respect to Brown .....but the whole deal WAS lot of nothing when it could have been  so much much more......SMH

Still, choosing not to go all-in on Butler probably means the Durant dream is well and truly dead.  It's hard to imagine guys like Horford or Dwight seriously considering the Celts, either.

Bulls were probably demanding the future BKN picks as well in any trade for Butler.

Even then I don't think the Bulls were sold on trading Butler.

I think this is exactly what happened.  They didn't want to trade him at all so they asked for the moon.  People forget what front office we are dealing with in Chicago.

Ainge said today if there was a trade as good as some rumors said he would have done it.  After the trade he almost made with Charlotte last year, people thinking Ainge is so stingy that he wouldn't do Avery and 3 for Butler...

Glad we didn't overpay.  Until we sit down and have an actual conversation with Kevin durant, it makes little sense to waste quality talent and major assets on an overrated fringe all star.

#3 + one of Bradley or crowder is plenty enough for premium brand Ricky Davis.  He's not much of an upgrade over Bradley or crowder anyways.

It is clear that the Bulls or Sixers were serious enough to get Dunn, they would have done so with the Suns or Wolves after us. They didn't manage to make a trade with 3 different teams that could have gotten them Dunn, so it is very apparent that they were not making good offers and what was reported was inaccurate.

I like Jimmy Butler.  I admire a kid who was drafted late in the first round without a lot of hoopla and has turned himself into a star using grit and hard work and some late blooming.


But, let's not kid ourselves, he's not the kind of "franchise changer" everyone is clamoring for.  Would have loved to get him, but only at a reasonable price.  It sounds like in the end Chicago's price wasn't reasonable.
