"We did not sniff an offer. It was a collection of rip-off attempts, and we laughed at them."

I personally rate the statement Clintonesque. He apparently wants me to believe him over the entire internet, which was giving specifics.

Wyc's credibility with me is 100 percent gone.

I won't believe another thing he says. Ever.

Sell the club, Wyc. The tradition deserves a better caretaker than you.

I'm definitely not going that far. I just think he needs to shut his mouth, get some common sense, and start showing some actual results instead of just talking like it.

I think Wyc could be our problem. He doesn't want to spend money. We shall see if they spend any money on free agents - that's if any free agents want to come to this team. What's the attraction to come?

Well there isn't as much today as there was yesterday.

Yesterday we had a ton of assets.

Today we have...at best...a new car that we just drove off the lot. We have some 19 year olds and Euros and stuff like that. There is no attraction to that

Reasonable stance. Reasonable people can disagree.

I won't be satisfied until the Celtics are owned by a group that is committed to competing for championships. Every year.

Last night made one thing clear. This ownership group is not.

This is the closest I can get to Wyc telling the truth.  It's not THE Truuuuuth. It's the truth!

Based solely on sticking the wet finger in the air, I'm at about a 3. I'm guessing he got a collection of rip-off proposals, but I find it hard to believe that we didn't get a few win-wins.

If the bulls offers were fair wouldn't jimmy butler be playing in Minny right now? If Philly's offer was fair wouldn't they have dunn by now ?
If any other deal materialized i could see that he was lying, but nothing happened so i believe him.

Hes the owner so he can say/do as he pleases but saying stuff like this is not helpful.  The Butler deal out there sounds like it was heavily lopsided so Im with him there.  The Philly deal was relatively fair but the Celtics absolutely did not need two additional late firsts this year.

I just dont think characterizing your current (and potentially future) trading partners as rip off artists will help us execute deals.  Particularly when Ainge is a know dealmaker that has rarely come off on the short end of the stick on these types of moves.  When you have as many picks as we did maybe you overpay a bit to get what you really want/need.  A lot of the late picks however have little to no practical value.

Not sure about the "laugh at them" or the "did not sniff an offer", but I'd be 100% behind the idea that there were certainly "a collection of rip-off attempts."

Not sure why that in particular is such a controversial statement to make. It's been quite apparent it's what we've been dealing with since the Brooklyn deal occurred.

The question is on the other side of it, can we afford to be ripped off? And to some degree, yes we can. But without specifics, can't tell if it was the right deal regardless.

But that teams want to rip us off should be a certainty by now.

I believe him, but he's clearly holding back something, like possible trades or FA signing.

I think Wyc got burned with his "fireworks" statement a couple off-seasons ago.  He has learned that this stuff is not simple and patience is key.  He counts on Ainge to be the expert, which is a hell of a lot better than a few owners I can think of who have destroyed their teams by meddling.

Those late firsts the 76ers probably offered both turned into Euro stashes. We could have done that. It wouldn't have hurt us at all. What would have been wrong with that?

That's flat out idiotic.  Team management had no problem with the Celtics taking on salaries for players they were going to release, just to get future draft picks, such as Joel Anthony, Perry Jones III, and Zoran Dragic.  Some teams sold their draft picks for cash last night, and they do every year.  The Celtics had the most picks ever in any draft, and didn't sell one, even #58.  From 2003-2013, they paid the fourth most in luxury tax dollars because their salaries were consistently over the cap by large amounts.

You can be mad, but the one thing this ownership group has shown since they took over is that they are not cheap.  At all.
