If either of the rumored deals is true, I don't make those trades either.  Extreme overpay.  That might be a good name for a TV show.

Where's the "I don't know, all we've heard is anonymous rumors and speculation" option?
I'm bitter.

Those late firsts the 76ers probably offered both turned into Euro stashes. We could have done that. It wouldn't have hurt us at all. What would have been wrong with that?

How would it have helped?  If much rather have Jaylen Brown than a few more Euro stashes.

Also, the Sixers STILL need to trade Noel or Okafor or Embiid.  They still don't have a PG.  It's not like that ship has sailed.

Yup, Sixers are still at a disadvantage in trade negotiations.  If we had picked Dunn, we would be too (too many guards).

It's always funny when on draft night people try to predict the outcomes of these players and don't want to admit that we simply don't know the potential of these prospects. I'll trust my Front Office that resurrected ET's career, turned IT into an all-star and Jae Crowder into a legitimate starter.

I think we should sticky the "And we could have drafted X" threads from now when a much later pick becomes something next season... but that is simply the nature of the draft.

The #3 for Noel, Covington and two picks in the 20s is ridiculous. Noel is often injured and on the last year of his rookie deal and we definitely didn't need more picks.

We were targeting specific pieces that weren't necessarily on the trading block (Hayward, Parker, Middleton, Butler), so teams wanted an arm and a leg for their cornerstone pieces... I believe that fully... not sure what's hard in that to believe. We weren't having a fire sale for the #3, we were going after specific players that CBS wanted in his system.

But looking at the tea leaves forming out... Brooklyn just traded their second leading scorer, that immediately boosts the value of that pick going into Free Agency with a disgruntled Boogie. We turned Deyonta Davis, a player that no team wanted in the 1st round, into a potential 2019 lottery pick.

All in all, seems like a good night to me.

But Brooklyn has more free agent money available and it is New York and they do have a star in Lopez. So they may attract free agents that make them better next year which is not good for us.

No, we turned it into a lottery-protected 2019 or 2020 pick that turns into a couple of second round picks otherwise. It will never be a lottery pick.

How has that worked for the Knicks?

Or the Lakers?

The Nets traded one of their two best players for a broom and a bucket last night. Seems to me that they're looking to do their rebuild the right way, which is great for us.

They're not gonna sign any DeMar DeRozen/Mike Conley types. Too old and expensive. If they try to sign anyone it'll be younger guys who you may be able to pry away like Sullinger, Barnes or even Zeller. Either way, it's hard to see us getting anything less than a top 5 pick next year.

They haven't had the money available until this year. So I guess we will see.

I feel like that's a bit of a cop out option. I feel like 5 would be the better way to go on that level

I think there's some hyperbole in there, but it's mostly truthful. Teams wanted more than we wanted to give, and nothing was particularly close.

I've been rather disappointed with the way Wyc has been handling the talking recently. He's the opposite of how Danny talks: very outspoken, brash, thinking he's all that. I mean, yeah you're the owner, but did you have to try and diss the other teams like this? They won't take it kindly the next time they're dealing with us.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.
