Draft BPA not for need. No need to reach at #3.
Foolish and lazy planning is this mind set. If you have a prospect that fills the need you draft him otherwise you're in our position where you have potentially with Dunn....4 [dang] point guards on the roster! How are guys gonna get minutes? How are guys gonna develop? Should a #6 pg aka Marcus smart ride the pine because. #3 unproven college player has been chosen? Or do we play small ball all year and get killed inside?
We got a guard last year when we clearly needed a wing, with a decent wing available...rhj. We can argue who woulda had the bigger long term impact, but as it stands we'll never know.
And I don't think Dunn is BPA. I think hield or Murray are at that spot, and they provide us depth and scoring at sg. Something we need. Go figure
You'd have a more convincing argument if we drafted at #16 again, like last year, but at #3, you have to go BPA.
We had Jae Crowder and Evan Turner as our wings - they were both singificantly better players last season then RHJ was.
On the other hand during the season Bradley missed some time due to injury, and we needed Smart. Then Smart missed time and we needed Bradley. Then in the playoffs Bradley missed time again, and Smart and Rozier were critical to us even having a fighting chance.
I don't think we would have been better off AT ALL if we took RHJ instead or a guard to be perfectly honest.
I agree we need depth at the SG spot, but Dunn is entirely capable of playing the SG spot as well. I'm high in Hield, but Dunn has a much higher ceiling IMHO.
Murray isn't even in the discussion - he's not worthy of shining Dunn's shoes, as we will see once he steps on an NBA court. Hes a fantastic college player, but he'll be an NBA bust.
