If we can get Noel for *less* than a top 5 pick (or get Noel + something good), sign me up.

Maybe it's the contract - I see us easily resigning him despite the cost - but this feels suddenly underrated to me. If you play him at center where he belongs, this kid is itching to go 15/10 with DPOY level defense. He just needs to play the 5 where he averaged 13/9 last year for Philly. He can easily switch and defend 4s of course.

Ideally get Noel and Covington or Saric or some other pick? Or get Noel without the #3.

Regarding the Noel trade, this is what we are competing against:

Quote
In preliminary trade talks, Houston pitched the Sixers a package involving Trevor Ariza and Patrick Beverley for Nerlens Noel, per source.

Jake Fischer

We BETTER NOT trade 3 for Noel
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

I knew they wanted Dunn

If they are serious about playing ball this year they got to have guard talent .

Given em. ....3 rd and Rozier for Oak and Covington

LOL...no wonder Phili is so hot after our #3 pick!

I think a big part of these poor offers to the Sixers though is not the value of their big men, but the fact that everyone has known for a year now that they have to trade one of them.

Market for Nerlens Noel seems to be far overstated by some. More likely he fetches a late lottery pick in a trade as opposed to top-5 pick.

And someone said I was crazy for proposing Noel, Saric, and LAL 2017 for 3, Young and Hunter!

Yup, I think you're crazy. And if they can pull off something like that, you've got a TP comin' at you every single day in July. Here's to hoping!

Yeah, someone earlier mentioned that Givony tweeted something suggesting Noel would more likely fetch philly a late lottery pick. This makes sense as he was rumored to be swapped with Teague who went for #12 last night.

Id love to do 3 for Noel + LA '17/Saric/'17Phi-Sac swap doubt you could pull any of em off unfortunately

Well I think Teague is a better player than Noel, yet Atlanta only got #12 as he only has one year left on his contract. Why would the Celtics want to give up #3??

That's the thing. And to make matters worse, he's becoming a FA just in time for the salary explosion. In other words, a #3, without any additional assets, is a non-starter for what is either a rental or a player that you have to pony up big money to despite his offensive limitations/lack of coordination.

Agreed.

If we trade #3, Noel is the throw-in, not the centerpiece.

But as a throw-in, he's fantastic.
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

but, but, but...larbrd told me all those philly picks will be stars!!!  ;)

 ;D

Embiid is next. He's already missed 2 years and his rookie scale deal is quickly running out. Saric, who now seems doubtful to come over this season, will not be handcuffed to a rookie contract next summer. Awful overall value for 3 lottery picks. Yeah, trust the process!

How is that person wrong?

Would love to see 3, 23, 31 and 35 for Embiid and ล arić. Use 16 on Sabonis and draft-and-stash the rest. That gives us three blue chips from this draft and much needed help in our front court.

Agreed.

And if the whole league is lowballing Philly, the best option for Philly is to accept that they won't get full value and take the best of the disappointing offers (which I think will include the #3).

it better be with another first rounder and saric coming back cause noel is hot garbage and doesn't do crap for the celtics.

Other than him making us the best defensive team in the league, I agree with you.  ;)

Best defensive team in the league huh? Maybe that will get us out if the first round of the playoffs
Truuuuuuuuuth!

Reading now that Thaddeus Young is available from BKN for a 1st rounder.

#3, Jerebko for Noel, Covington
#16, #35 for Thaddeus Young

Covington / Young / Noel would be an awfully nice new front line for a few draft picks, and we'd still have #23, #31 to work with.

IT / Rozier
Bradley / Smart
Crowder / Covington
Young / Amir
Noel / KO

Not to stir the pot, but I wonder why everyone is ignoring the fact that Okafor had knee surgery this season.
