"Now, thanks to John Brinkus and his crack research staff, we know that Bender shoots like Steph Curry only 15 percent faster, can lower his center of gravity like Karl Anthony-Towns and defends like two-time Defensive Player of the Year Kawhi Leonard. Now, they didn’t specifically mention that he also can rebound like Bill Russell, jump like Dominique Wilkins, cook like Gordon Ramsey[sic] and play trumpet like Miles Davis, but that’s implied if not directly stated."

Bender is intriguing, no doubt.  But he is also a huge risk.  I think he will be good eventually, you just never know.

Would you be kind enough to source this claim?

"I think Bender has the opportunity to be better than Porzingis," one general manager said. "His size, the way he plays. He's probably the most talented European I've seen since Dirk Nowitzki."

Yes, I didn't think they'd fall into this trap again, but here we are. This gives me hope about Ainge's ability to strike a good trade.

For the record, 2-time NBA champ Pau Gasol and his lil'bro, DPOY Marc Gasol were both drafted after Dirk.

Agree .. the Celtics are definitely in a trap.. and a trade is obviously the number one option... However there is no player besides probably Simmions who can make an immediate impact... so in that matter they need to draft on best prospect... maybe Bender can play at Portzingus level or even Hezonja at the end of the year... He will need time but the Celtics are playing with free money here and gambles should be taken ...unless a great trade presents itself

This is amusing and sharp witted drivel.

That's what Thornton does. It makes WEEI occasionally bearable.
