I believe everything about Dunn is a smokescreen to improve our chance of making the most in demand trade possible. Call it a strong hunch or whatever, but I believe with no trade, Bender will have his name called 3rd tomorrow.

Danny wants to see what the best offer is and with everyone clamoring over Dunn, it makes zero chance to boost Bender's name unless they believed Lakers could shock everyone and take him which is highly doubtful. We have been following Bender for sometime now.

Maybe if Suns want Okafor, and Sixers want Dunn, trade our 3rd for the 4th and 13th, let the Sixers trade with Sixers and let us snag Bender at 4 and than someone else who slides at 13 or take the 16th and 13th and our other first round pick and try to move up a few more notches.

'Good' also doesnt mean 'great' or 'excellent' or 'fantastic' or 'outstanding', etc.

You mean he didn't make 106 out of 100 jumpers, set a record in the Celtics death sprint, get Brad Stevens' personal endorsement, and posterize a lawn chair?

The post-workout hype always cracks me up.

I think he hpantazo has a fair point.

I've never heard bad feedback about a workout - you never really hear "the workout went poorly, the guy sucked".

But if you listen to the feedback about the workouts of guys Danny is reportedly interested in (Brown, Hield, Dunn) they seem to get a much more then just "the workout went good".  They tend to gloat about how great an athlete the player is, how hard a worker they are, how much talent/potential they have, etc.

For example, Danny and Brad were absolutely throwing out superlatives last year after working out Rozier, RJ Hunter and even Mickey - pretty much gushing about how impressive they were.

If you look at the other guys who got siimlarly modest feedback (Chriss and Murray) they are the two guys who werem't on the list of guys Danny apparently narrowed down to.

It seems that the word "good" in workout feedback seems to really mean "he's ok but we weren't blown away".

I would assume at this point it's probably down to Hield, Dunn and Brown - I'd be pretty thrilled with either to be honest.

I know what you are saying, but yes you do hear bad feedback.  Smart had some during his first Celtic workout.  Bender even had some at his European workout.  You hear about bad workouts from time to time.

Yeah Marcus had a "horrible" workout...

Yeah but did they say that at the time if the first workout, or did that feedback come out later, after he uad already redeemed hinself?

Bender is the first guy I wanted so I'd be happy if we take him in the end. I don't think we can lose this draft overly. I'd still take him or Brown.  Workouts aren't  everything.

I think if the celtics liek a guy they are going to take him.  Players rise and fall and more clarification but I've read a lot and I still have it bender or brown with hield 3rd.  Dunn as a trade option. I'd stay away from Murray or Chriss.

Then why all the talk about trading the pick, not a big endorsement.   I think the good workout is to get more out of Philly, little more.  They saw him in Israel and they still started all these trade talks, that does not smack of a ringing endorsement.

Heard Mike Gorman say on 98.5 that he thinks Bender will be the guy if they can't make a trade.

Also, note they are trying hard to make a trade, not a big affirmation that they want him.

Dragan Bender on his workout with Boston on Tuesday: "It was really good — really great workout, really great people around the club, so it was really great meeting those guys," Bender told reporters in New York on Wednesday. "Getting a chance to talk to them and work with them was really good."

You're right. It was after they drafted him.

It's not mutually exclusive to think he'll be a very good player and want him, and at the same time realize he isn't ready to contribute to a team that's trying to take the next step forward.  They aren't trying to trade the pick for just anybody.  They're trying to acquire an established all-star or near all-star level player, still entering his prime and with multiple years left on his deal.  They're trying really hard to do this now because having a top 3 pick is a rare occurrence, and creates the opportunity to explore such an opportunity.

Doesn't matter how much they like him.  Or Dunn.  Or any of the candidates.  If there is the slightest chance they can conjure up a trade that they like better, then they should try to conjure up that trade.

They lose nothing by trying to explore every possible trade option right up to and even after the pick is made.
NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.

Heard Mike Gorman say on 98.5 that he thinks Bender will be the guy if they can't make a trade.

On CSN last night,   Jackie McMullan went with Dunn, though she admitted that, "everyone hates my pick" and acknowledged that she liked Dunn mainly because she has driven down I-95 and seen him a lot.  She acknowledged that he was a poor fit for the Celtics.

But Scalabrine and Maxwell both said they think Bender will be the pick -- again, assuming Danny doesn't trade the pick (or pick intending to trade).   Both cited his length, work ethic and skill fit with the Celtics.

I couldn't get a clear hint as to whether any of them had managed to get a sneak peak at Bender's workout, though the fact that Scal and Max both answered pretty strongly towards Bender after both having very caged comments on him a couple of weeks ago is interesting.  Perhaps they've each had time since then to do a lot more research.

DraftExpress just updated their 'Top 100 Ranking' yesterday just before noon (after Bender's workout?) and still have Bender at #3, though their mock still predicts Dunn will be the pick (for trade reasons, according to the comments on their expanded mock draft page).

God, no...not Bender.
Dunn is a poor fit? Bull sh...
Dunn will be an all start point guard.
This is EXACTLY how I feel, but darn if I am scared of being wrong.

NOTE THIS QUOTE IS FROM BENDER HIMSELF.   Is he really going to say he stunk?  Nope. Thanks for posting the obvious.   Player states he had a good workout.

If they liked the pick would they be doing this?   Nope.   I think he is a pick of last resort and I think Ainge pulls the trigger on the Philly deal before drafting a guy scoring 5 PPG in the ACB.   Besides Ainge does not have a strong history of drafting foreign players like 4 out of 28 picks.   Two of those placed in NCAA college level.

I don't think the top three pick is as valuable as some think.  Did you see Ainge after the lottery?   Other teams do not value our assets aside from Bradley, IT, Crowder and Smart perhaps.  If they did we would not be in this conundrum.
