Ford was on mike and mike this morning. Said Brown would be somewhat of a risk because he doesn't think he is really a real bball player , rather just a gifted athlete. He mentioned how he could only make 1 FG in a game against a weak Hawaii team. Also how he picked up 4 offensive fouls in 11 mins against another team.

He also mentioned that a majority of teams would take Dunn #3, he has an NBA body and elite defender, but doesn't know how his offense will translate to the NBA game. Sounds like we already have that player with Marcus.

To me Bender has to be the pick. He has the best skill set offensively, near elite height and length, great work ethic and high bbiq.

If we were keeping the pick, id want the C's to draft Bender too. He won't win ROY but he might turn out to be one of the best players in his draft class.

I'll really need some convincing if DA decides to go with Brown. I don't see much upside, despite his elite athleticism.

Still hoping on an Ingram slip to 3 or trade for Butler. I believe in Danny. If he thinks Brown is the best pick then lets hope he's right.

- Bender had an awful workout in israel apparently. Maybe he shows better today.

- Brown's advanced stats are awful:

- Ford and Bilas also said this about Celtics and Dunn today in their mock draft:

Quote
3. Boston Celtics

Will pick: Kris Dunn, PG, Jr., Providence

Ford: The Celtics' preferred choice is to trade the pick. If they can find a partner willing to take a package of the No. 3 pick plus other assets in return for a young All-Star, they'll make the deal. If they are forced to keep the pick, it's much harder to tell which direction they're leaning.

There are five players still in the mix, but I think it likely will come down to two: Cal's Jaylen Brown and Providence's Dunn. Dunn is the more proven product and could come in and help right away.

Brown provides more upside. He already has an NBA body and elite athleticism. If he can start knocking down jumpers, his ceiling will be very, very high.

You could justify either selection, but it feels like they're leaning toward Dunn at the moment.

Should pick: Kris Dunn, PG, Jr., Providence

Bilas: Dunn is the third-best prospect in this draft. He is long-armed, very athletic and an elite defender who gets steals and impacts the game without scoring. He gets to the rim and is excellent in transition. While streaky, Dunn can shoot it from range and he also gets to the foul line.

His shot has improved dramatically over the years and he is an excellent passer. Dunn has star potential as a big point guard.

This is exactly what I'm thinking.

Holding out hope the Bulls decide to rebuild and shop Butler 24-48 hours before the Draft.

I can let Brown's stats slide a bit as the kid was only a 18 year freshman. I don't expect him to come to the NBA and be great. Going to take him a few years. Dunn has 3 years at Providence and even his last year didn't exactly dominate.

Dunn was actually at Providence for 4 years but only played 5 games his sophomore year because of a shoulder injury.  I don't get all the hype about him.  He was very good, but as you said, he didn't dominate as a senior the way you would expect from a top 3 pick.

I thought Bilas had Bender #3 on his board? When did that change?

Having Bender #3 on his board is not the same as saying he will be the #3 pick.

DraftExpress also has Bender at #3 on their "Top 100" board, but their mock draft expects the Celtics to take Dunn.

Basically, the 'big boards' and 'top rankings' are ordering of how they rank the players.

The mocks are ordering by how they think the teams will select.

There are a lot of rumors that multiple teams want Dunn, but the only way to be certain of getting him looks to be the #3 pick.   That's why multiple mocks are now thinking Dunn will be picked by Danny at #3.  So Danny can trade him.

I guess he updated his board because he now has Bender at #7 and Dunn at #3. Makes me wonder how much of Bender has he actually watched. I think a lot of these guys are just guessing with him.

I agree 1000%. Great athlete. Not a good basketball player.

I mean, he was the conference player of the year (from the conference that produced the national champion), an all-American, and a Wooden award finalist.  That's of course doesn't mean he will be a great pro, but it does mean he was one of the top collegiate players.  He was one of the top 5-7 college players out of about 4,000.  You're entitled to your own definition of dominant, but college production is generally not seen as a weakness in Dunn.

I'm not sure Brown even wants to be a basketball player. After reading the deadspin article and hearing some interviews, at least at this time, he seems more interested in creating his brand and being this cool, intellectual, and athletically gifted freak that has chosen to pursue basketball among other options and/or passions. Could be totally off-base here, just the impression I have gotten.

Chad Ford is useless as far as analysis.  If Brown becomes great he'll probably go back and put him up in his rankings at 3.

I can't take Chad Ford seriously on any level whatsoever.

When ESPN employs Chad Ford and fires Bill Simmons....yeah.  ESPN recently came out and said Bill Simmons was disrespectful. Well yeah. He worked for ESPN. Who can blame him?
