Report: Bucks shopping Monroe "Hard"

If we can't make any other trades for someone like Butler, Love, or Cousins (essentially taking us out of the Durant sweepstakes for good), would you take Monroe off of the Bucks hands? It'd probably only cost salary filler to get him. Amir straight up would work, and you would even still have enough space to sign someone like a Horford this offseason. That's definitely a two-seed in the East with a lineup of IT, Bradley, Crowder, Horford, and Monroe. We'd also greatly help our rebounding and scoring issues. Plus, he's on a short-term deal that only lasts two more years. I'd do this if we struck out on other trades, especially since we'd keep the Brooklyn pick.

Or, we could try and involved them in a bigger trade. What about Monroe, Parker, and #10 for Amir, Bradley, and #3? That also seems like a really good deal for both sides. We substantially upgrade our frontcourt while adding a top-notch young prospect in Jabari, both of which help our scoring and rebounding issues. We'd also have a mid-lottery pick to try and move up with the 16th with to select whoever is left from the consensus top-8. For Milwaukee, Amir and Bradley would slot in perfectly for them at the 5 and 2, respectively, (if Amir wasn't cut with his non-guaranteed contract) and they'd be able to finally get a point guard for the future in Dunn. A Dunn, Bradley, Middleton, Giannis, Amir is downright ridiculous defensively with a ton of potential offensively.

What trade would you prefer?

Monroe isn't an ideal starting center, but I think he's undervalued at this point and could be a quality piece.  Certainly an upgrade on Sullinger as a rebounder and scorer.

I doubt they'd consider moving Parker.

I was a fan of getting Monroe but given that Detroit got a lot better without him and the Bucks got a lot worse, I'm very leery of the guy now.

Monroe isn't the sort of player Brad is looking for.  Better off with the current Kelly/Amir combo, imho.

Actually, Monroe had a positive DRPM for the Bucks and the Pistons these past two years.

Monroe is more productive than any of the bigs the Celtics currently have.

Right now, the Celts aren't winning anything of note with this group so personnel moves have to be viewed in terms of upgrading assets rather than how a player necessarily "fits" in the vision of the team as it's constructed at the moment.

Detroit got better because it made no sense to play two centers at the same time.

Milwaukee got worse because they only had one reliable three point shooter in their original starting lineup.

As usual, people fail to look at context, they only see that a big man doesn't fit what they think should be the prototype for that position.

Well, they're apparently very interested in trying to find a good point guard prospect, which isn't surprising given that Kidd is running things over there.

Additionally, they're also suffering from some poor placement with their rotation guys, because Giannis is ultimately a 4, just like Parker, and Middleton is ultimately better off as a 3. So they have three starting-level players at the 3/4 position, and a solid two-way 2 guard (Bradley) is exactly what they need for a better fit.

With their ability to draft Dunn and place their players in more natural positions while picking up a long-term, two-way starting SG in Bradley and solid, non-guaranteed vet contract in Amir, I think they'd be willing to deal him. I'm actually a little afraid that we'd be making a defensive juggernaut in Milwaukee that might come back to hurt us later on.

I'd absolutely acquire Monroe as he would be a huge upgrade over any big man on the roster.  That said, assuming the price was fairly similar, I'd rather acquire Okafor, who while not as good currently has more upside growth potential.

I'm not interested in Monroe, unless it's for very cheap. The league is going away from players like him, the Celtics aren't the type of team to be behind the times.

Yeah, that's also the thing. Okafor makes more sense due to a higher ceiling and being much younger. However, is he worth the cost?

If they require the number three pick or a combination of Bradley, Rozier, 16, and 23 for Okafor, is that a better deal than a straight-up swap of Amir and Monroe, which I'm fairly confident we could do? That's a tough question.

He's a good player but he isn't the type of player at his position that we need on our team.

Tobias Harris was traded for Ilyasova and Brandon Jennings, I cant imagine Monroe would have even the same value.
