"The Sixers have had “vigorous internal debates” about the No. 1 pick, with Brandon Ingram and Kris Dunn – who would both be good fits on the roster – receiving consideration. But, as Ford writes, the team keeps coming back to the fact that Ben Simmons is the best prospect in the draft in terms of “sheer talent and upside.” Ford adds that head coach Brett Brown believes he could find a way to use Simmons as a point guard of sorts."

You've got to think Danny is working with Colangelo to try and have him trade down to 3. It seems that Brown is the main one pushing for Simmons, most likely due to their Australian connection. Between their huge logjam at the 4 and 5 and Colangelo's comments about his concerns with having too many young guys on a team without vet guidance, you'd think that Boston is in an ideal situation to trade up with them, if they would trade down at all.

You'd think they'd trade down before outright just picking Dunn in the top-2 with as much as this has been hailed as a two-man draft.

If we could trade up for Simmons and pay less than the farm, it would be one of the best possible outcomes this offseason.

You would.  But if they talk themselves into believing Dunn is the best player, then it's also easy to talk yourself into the possibility he won't be there at #3.

Oh you gotta love all the talk now with the draft being a few days away. lol Actually starting to get excited about it myself. There's always talk leading up the draft with trades and what not, yet things stand pat. I hope something happens this year.

Despite the thread title, the most important sentence of this passage says something different.
"I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve."

Eh trading down in that circumstances is tough. Though teams have managed it before. (Love deal was kinda like this)

I've said before that if they really weigh their assets, their only asset that they can get market value for is the 1st pick, and they can actually get way above market value for it from the Celtics.

Okafor - can't even recoup a top 3 (maybe even top 8?) pick.
Noel - proving to be a one dimensional player, although probably more valuable than Okafor
Embiid - Will he ever be healthy? No one would take a chance on that.
Saric - Will he ever play in the NBA?

On top of that, no one in the NBA is going to give them fair value because they know the Sixers have to bring balance to their roster and start winning.

On the other side of things, the Celtics are sitting there (along with several other teams) probably willing to over a king's ransom for Simmons.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Yeah it's certainly going to be considered.

Dunn is looking like the second coming of Wade in his workouts.

What's fascinating to me is how some people could want Jamal Murray over Dunn.
Dunn is just a far superior basketball player, playmaker and athlete, AND he plays defense at an elite level already.

I believe our pick will be one of Dunn, Hield or Brown, with Bender looking on the outside in.

Dunn also missed an entire season in 13/14' and I wonder how much he'd challenge for the #1 pick with another year of NCAA under his belt...

I think Danny is taking Dunn, Hield or Brown and I'd be absolutely ecstatic with Hield or Dunn.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Dumbest thing I've read on the draft so far.... They compared like 7 players to Ed Davis Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.... None of the comparisons make sense to me..
