Dumbest thing I've read on the draft so far.... They compared like 7 players to Ed Davis ****... None of the comparisons make sense to me..

I agree. Except the Ingram comparison to Batum. That seems really good. I think Ingram wants to score more than Batum does, but other than that, that comparison seems dead on.

If simmons drops i think danny still takes brown

But for ingram.. tough one

There is no way in hell Danny takes Brown over Simmons.

Simmons is the best prospect in this draft by a mile - and Ingram and Dunn are honestly about on par.  Ingram has a slightly higher ceiling but is a high risk.  Dunn still has a very high ceiling and is a very low risk.

Simmons has the highest ceiling of them all AND is a low risk.  The only reason you consider another is if you are the Sixers and you're stacked with too many bigs and desperate for a star PG / SF.

Yeah I've been using that comparison a lot.   Batum and Tayshaun Prince - both a lot like ingram.

"The Sixers have had “vigorous internal debates” about the No. 1 pick, with Brandon Ingram and Kris Dunn – who would both be good fits on the roster – receiving consideration. But, as Ford writes, the team keeps coming back to the fact that Ben Simmons is the best prospect in the draft in terms of “sheer talent and upside.” Ford adds that head coach Brett Brown believes he could find a way to use Simmons as a point guard of sorts."

You've got to think Danny is working with Colangelo to try and have him trade down to 3. It seems that Brown is the main one pushing for Simmons, most likely due to their Australian connection. Between their huge logjam at the 4 and 5 and Colangelo's comments about his concerns with having too many young guys on a team without vet guidance, you'd think that Boston is in an ideal situation to trade up with them, if they would trade down at all.
Despite the thread title, the most important sentence of this passage says something different.

And look where it's got them with Okafor and Embiid so far. When you draft BPA for three straight years at the same position, you're bound to have issues maximizing each one's value due to their inability to play together. Even though he undoubtedly has the highest ceiling in the draft, though by how much is questionable, by picking Simmons they'd only be exacerbating an already overcrowded frontcourt in the 4 and 5 position.

If they don't think there's that much of a difference between the ceilings of these two players, then it certainly makes sense to consider position and fit when drafting, let alone the fact that one of his few weaknesses is his shot, which also happens to be a major area of need for them.

Yeah it's certainly going to be considered.

Dunn is looking like the second coming of Wade in his workouts.

What's fascinating to me is how some people could want Jamal Murray over Dunn.
Dunn is just a far superior basketball player, playmaker and athlete, AND he plays defense at an elite level already.

I believe our pick will be one of Dunn, Hield or Brown, with Bender looking on the outside in.

Dunn also missed an entire season in 13/14' and I wonder how much he'd challenge for the #1 pick with another year of NCAA under his belt...

I think Danny is taking Dunn, Hield or Brown and I'd be absolutely ecstatic with Hield or Dunn.

With all due respect to the Murray camp, its laughable.   He's not even close to being in Dunn's level.   Not even close.

Not even close. He'd lose his job if he did that.

Thank you. This ABSOLUTE BPA philosophy is certainly flawed. Yes, you generally take the best player available, but if Simmons was a center in this draft and was the best prospect, should Philly REALLY take yet another center prospect? No way.

Simmons seems like a Danny player anyways.

Remember folks he tried to get Monta for years and year and years.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I've been discussing Dunn as possibly the best player from this draft for a while now and will be disappointed if Danny passes on him for somebody else.

I can definitely see PHI or LAL taking Dunn over Simmons or Ingram. Frankly, he seems like the only player guaranteed to succeed in the NBA. Simmons and Ingram will likely do very well and may even be perennial all-stars, but they both have question marks. Dunn has elite athleticism and skill.

Interestingly, I see Bender playing a roll similar to Batum/Tayshaun Prince also, but I think his 3 point shooting at the 4 will prove to be more valuable than Batum's at the 2 or 3.

I'm begging the Sixers or Lakers to pick Dunn.

You and me both.

Monta Ellis? If true, why didn't he just draft him instead of Gerald Green in 2005??

This. Absent the unlikely scenario where the Sixers trade the pick, we are going to be booing Simmons four times per year, twice here, twice in South Philly.

Valued Green higher during the draft as did the whole league given that Monta lasted till the second round. Probably was hoping to draft him at 50 or buy a pick to jump into the higher second, Monta went 40 though.

Subsequently we were calling GSW to try and trade for Monta all the time. Every offseason and trade deadline had a Monta rumor for years.

I can only imagine this place if Ingram falls to us.  Imagine Ingram + a chip on his shoulder for falling past 2?
