Cavs Winning it All could actually help us land Durant

Here is why:

During the 2014 season, the Cavs were a lottery team and they struck a gold by hitting the #1 pick. Lebron knew that the team is capable of surrounding him with talent with those assets they have. They may have failed in their first try but they won it all, a season later.

This Celtic team is already better place to be than that Cavs roster. Not only the team won 48 games without superstar on the team, they have tons of cap space and lottery picks to spend. #1 pick help the Cavs land Love (although he wasn't much of an impact).

We already have a Kyrie in Isaiah. Smart and Bradley could be our better version of Shumpert and Smith. They have Tristan Thompson as a rim protector but with the cap space we have, we can either sign an impact big via free agency or use our assets and cash it through trade.

Kevin Durant already stated that he wants a great coaching staff and CBS is one of the rising coaches in the league. He also stated the he likes the fanbase in Boston. Danny and Durant's mom have some connections too. Not to mention Perkins is the one suggesting that Durant should sign with the Celtics.

People say that he should sign with the Warriors and the Spurs but no. It will only hurt his legacy and people will hate him worse than Lebron with "The Decision, Durant Edition". Outside OKC, Celtics have the biggest odds on landing Kevin Durant.

I think the Cavs would have been a better team with Wiggins than Love.   Love had a nice game seven but up to then he was playing poorly.

Keep telling yourself that Durant is coming here.   I don't see it barring a miracle.   The Cavs have a better team than us.

Being a debby downer doesn't help landing Durant either. I said there is a chance. I'm not completely assuming that Durant will sign with us, but those factors could help us land him.

He is already considering a discussion with the front office. What's not to be excited about it? At least unlike back then, a superstar actually considered signing here. That was not a case years ago.

Lebron is getting older and he have already a mileage with his legs and the Cavs are not invincible. People never really expected them to win it all this year outside Cavalier fans.

This thought actually went through my mind couple times after last night.  If anything, this increases our chance in landing Durant.  Durant is watching this and thinking if only I can carve my own team and surround myself with players that I want.  No other team would be able to do that for him than the Celtics.  I have high hopes...

Hmmm out West he basically mowed through the first 2 rounds and had the Defending champs down 3 - 1..   while in the East the New Champ MOWED through the east (as he has done for what 6 years now) and actually won the Chip..

soooo Durant is now thinking that the road to the Chip is easier for him in the east?
PS. Don't forget that Durant's Success rate against James is scary bad..  13-3 head to head..

While yes the West is more talented than the East, Durant likely sees the top teams in the West getting worse next year and Thunder getting better.

Barnes and Ezeli likely gone, Iggy and Bogut another year older, Duncan and Ginobli washed up, and another year to develop chemistry in Okc

I love the idea of him coming to Boston, but it's not likely at all. Too risky to his legacy and his window isn't open for 10 more years

First off, how do you see the Thunder getting better and the Spurs and Warriors getting worse? The Spurs are almost a certainty to get Conley at this point with interest on both sides, and unless GS is getting Durant himself, they're keeping Barnes, though probably losing Ezeli. Curry also won't be injured for their round most likely next year either.

Second, how would going to Boston harm his legacy? Better coach, better management, better organization, and he wouldn't have to share shots with another first option. If anything, him coming here would only increase his stats and caliber as a MVP-type talent.

Ckevelabd mowed through the East because it was so bad. There was one title contender in the East and at least four in the West. So, yeah, it's definitely an easier path to the Finals.

Read my post again. We have assets and capspace to sign quality frontcourt players aside Durant if needed.

They have a chance. But I don't see why he'd view it as an anything other than a lateral move at best. OKC proved they can not only play with the Warriors, but actually beat them. I don't agree that they'd be the inarguable upgrade that some seem to believe.

No, if anything it exacerbates the problem of sharing shots that he already has to do with Westbrook. Everyone's usage rate would drop dramatically, and I just don't see how everyone is ok with that with Steph, Klay, Durant, and Green all in or just now reaching their prime.

There is such a thing as too much of a good thing.
