What do you guys think?  Which draft will be better/has better overall talent?

Lets just hope the Nets have another disastrous year and we get another top 5 pick for the 2017 draft  ;D  Once they trade/sell Lopez, Young  ...2017,2018 drafts...  we could be looking at the biggest steal/trade (thief = Danny) in the last 5 years

I think the assumption is that the 2017 draft is star studded, and very deep too.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

Yet we'll only have a top 5 pick :/
As of right now there appears to be a few more high ceiling guys that can also play right away but we shall see. There's a couple of power forwards and a couple of wings I really like. Also, Dennis Smith (PG) has elite athleticism for his size. Fultz might turn out to be the stud of the group.

That is generally true (look at how over-hyped the last two drafts were), however I did read that the 2017 class has one of the highest number of 5-Star prospects in all of draft history.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

Josh Jackson, giles  considered the cream of the crop?

How do they compare to ingram, simmons, wiggins, giannis (talent wise)

Haven't seen Giles vs. top competition but he looks like a beast. JJ is a sick athlete and don't leave out Jayson Tatum, who played well in McDonald's games, or whatever they call it now.
It's a very athletic and talented bunch. Not sure how to compare to your list as they've yet to play any college ball and I've seen all of the above listed in higher levels.

The 2017 is much stronger in PGs & SFs (10 of the top 15 in DE's 2017 mock are either PG or SF).   The 2016 is much stronger in PF/C  & SG (10 of the top 15 in DE's 2017 mock are either SG or PF/C).

That's about it in a nutshell.

The 2016 is stronger in bigs with 14 guys of 6' 11" or taller listed in the first 40 picks by draft express (and that doesn't even include Sabonis and Stone, who are both very strong 6' 10" players).

The 2017 mock lists only 9 guys of 6' 11" or taller in the first 40 picks.  A couple of other 6' 10" guys might grow beyond that threshold, but it looks right now like that draft won't come close to the number of "7 footers" that this current draft has.

I realllllly like Ntilikina. Reminds me a lot of Rondo, but hopefully without the broken jump shot. Oh, and he's 6'5 with reportedly a 7' wingspan.

Based on my cursory look, 2017 has about five or six guys that would go top 3 this year and maybe four guys that I'd think about at #2. Not sufficiently familiar with any of them to consider them over Simmons, but there's a real chance that a couple of them (especially Ntilikina and Giles if his health checks out) will be that good.

That's not actually how it goes, though.

I dunno.  That is, indeed, how it seems to go.

The 2014 draft was supposed to be super strong.  But it hasn't yet proven to be all that.
The 2015 draft was supposed to be "weak".  Until it wasn't.

Most of the time, these broad statements about how "strong" or "weak" a draft are stupid and useless.

Ultimately, what matters is the particular player(s) you can reach at your pick.

As I noted up above, the 2017 draft and the 2016 draft aren't so much "stronger" or "weaker" relative to each other, they are just "different".   This year's draft is positionally much stronger in bigs and 2s.  Next year's will be stronger in 3s and 1s.

This year's is also very strong in international players.   Maybe some folks are confusing that with saying this year's college class is weak.   But analytics suggest that among college classes, this one is actually one of the stronger in recent years.

Maybe next year's class has more 'name' studs at the top.  Maybe they won't look so perfect after being over-analyzed for a year.   We'll see.

I think that's nonsense. If anything, people always fall in love with the current draft.
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.
