I don't see why people are so high on Chriss and Murray. Chriss has a really dumb look on his face in most photos. Both guys are athletic and have some excitement to them that way but the reporting makes more sense to me, and usually i completely disagree with what is reported. I don't even think Hield ends up here. The Lakers just worked him out and seems like he'd be at the end of our list. Maybe I'm getting lazy and just reading what people have to say more nowadays but even still. Just look at photos of Chriss. He has a really dumb look on his face. If that's our future so be it I guess.
Marquese Chriss at least right now equals a deer in headlights. I guess that could be good ultimately. Murray has a good all around game. I'm not that excited for either player though.
There isn't a player this draft at 3 that is going to come in and really set the world on fire right away.
The quality of talent coming into the league is not that exciting in general, but play has been changing for years. It' s not so much a game of improvisation or player intelligence anymore. It's based on numbers and a lot of direction, so a deer in headlights might actually do well ultimately if he can run and jump. It's just different. It's more scripted from a lot of number crunching and direction in different ways vs doing other things.
I'm serious too. Go to google and google images of celtics legends like Bird and Russell and compare their intelligent faces to a guy like Chriss. This is what the nba has become. It's so based on athleticism and predictable scripted mindless styles of play you get players like this. It's not even a mean thing to say. Red called Cousy a local yokel and refused to draft him at first until he smartened up and it's the same thing. Yes Chriss could be good the way the NBA is now but the dude needs to wake up a bit. Players now need to be able to react on the fly to fit the fast pace of the league and be aggressive.
We'll probably end up taking him now who knows. Or Murray. I'd take Chriss. Murray has his own issues. Decent all around player. But just seems cocky for a guy who really isn't that good. Best player in the draft? Really?
But honestly the rankings make sense. Chriss and Murray aren't as developed as the other guys. Maybe they are a bit more athletic and have higher upside down the road, but there is even more gambling involved and the upside difference isn't that great if at all. They are lesser developed with possibly more upside but yeah.
All the prospects we are looking at are so close this year. People think Bender is a mystery. He's more developed mentally than Chriss.
