Obviously LeBron is the best player in the NBA. I don't think that was ever in doubt regardless of how this series shook out. He's easily the best player since Jordan. Probably Top 5 All-Time.
What Steph did this year is incredible, though. Likely the most amazing shooting ever. His ability to shoot from almost half-court basically acted as a video game cheat code. We've never seen anything like that. Some people think it has the potential to alter the game long-term... like the first guys to dunk the ball. It remains to be seen if it's something that other players will be able to do or exclusively Steph Curry. Part of the reason nobody has tried it is because it's widely considered to be a moronic shot. Shooting from that far out, defies conventional basketball. Traditionally, anyone who attempted those types of shots would be yanked immediately from the game. I can't even think of a good comparison to that. What's something else that is widely regarded as a horrible sports play? It would be like if a baseball player decided to start taking his At Bats while sitting on the ground - and inexplicably hit .400 while doing it. It's just crazy.
I love Steph. He's been my favorite non-Celtic since he joined the league. I love shooters. But I'm rooting for LeBron. Maybe it's because I'm stubborn and hate change and feel like the Warriors represent an entire upheaval of everything I've known and loved about basketball my entire life. I'm not prepared to see basketball teams made up exclusively of 3-point shooters bombing it from half court. Home run derby basketball. As much as I love Steph, I appreciate the hell out of LeBron James. He's a basketball phenom. He can do everything. I just want to see him win one for Cleveland so his legacy is set and I don't have to feel weird watching him star in Space Jam 2.
I'm pumped for Game 7. Do you think it has a chance to break the television ratings record for an NBA game? The KG/Kobe Lakers Celtics game 7s were epic, but we're talking about two guys who are arguably the most popular names in Sports right now clashing in the basketball SuperBowl. It's huge.
