I just saw Forsberg post one of Ford's trade ideas in this Insider article.

https://twitter.com/ESPNForsberg/status/742719877128060928?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw

He said it was the Lakers sending Russell and Randle for Picks 3, 16, JJ, Hunter, and Mickey. If so, was he high when he wrote this? lol I'm as big of a Celtics homer as anybody, but you do that trade every day and twice on Sunday if you're Danny Ainge lol

Does anyone else see this as one-sided as me? If someone could post the Boston part, I'd greatly appreciate it! I can't imagine that he proposed such a lopsided trade in reality.

I don't see a fit for Randle and Russell though.

must be me but I'm not a fan of Randle or Russell so I don't like it from Boston's side.  I realize it's Russell and Randle for 3 and 16 for all intents and purposes but if we're trading #3 I want a proven top vet player, not 2 young guys with question marks about their games.

I don't like it, either.

Well that seems like a steal for us doesn't it? I mean like them or not we come out of that with the better assets right?

Yeah I agree that it's really one sided. On twitter Celtics fans seem to be unanimously in favor of the deal. Anytime the Celtics fan base is unanimously in favor of any trade rumor, I know with 100% certainty that the deal is unfair for the other team.

Simmons posted that Ford wrote Butler for 5, Dieng and Lavine was another idea. I'd rather the C's top that package for Butler than deal for DeAngelo though.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Trade makes no sense for LA, and doesn make a ton for us in terms of fit, but in terms of talent acquisition we win going away.

Weird deal because it forces us to make a bunch of other moves. There simply isnt enough minutes for Thomas Bradley Smart Rozier and Russell. Also, I think it would be tough to find a guy who fits well with Randle. I think you have to do it just because of the elite talent you acquire, but it would be really hard to turn a deal you win in a vacuum into an on court success.

Not a fan of either Russell or Randle but I think we'd come out ahead.  Do we need more guards though?  And does Randle fill a need for us?  Seems like a trade that really isn't good for either side.

The problem is I think Russell is a negative for bringing in free agents.

The prank he pulled on his teammate in the locker-room is not one other pros will easily forgive.

I don't like it. I feel like Ainge can draft a better player than Russell at 3, and a better player than Randle at 16 or 23.

Hell, you just go young then with that core of Rusell, Smart, Crowder, and Randle. I'd trade off IT and Bradley for more young pieces, like a Noel. You can't tell me that there's a better young core in the NBA than Russell, Smart, Crowder, Randle, and Noel. That's a really good mix of offense and defense, and we'd only add to it the next couple of years with our own or the Brooklyn picks. Hell, I think we'd still compete for a playoff spot with that roster next year.

Of course, there's no way Los Angeles would do that anyways unless they absolutely loved someone like Dunn AND Ingram. You'd still probably only get one of them in that case.

Let me ask this - would you trade the number three for Russell straight up, assuming that we couldn't trade it for a more established star? I think I would, and I'd like it over the Okafor trade, too. He would seemingly be a great fit next to Smart in the backcourt with his ball-handling, shooting, and playmaking.

Randle definitely fills a need at the 4. But, yeah, other trades would necessarily have to be made.

You really think there's a better player than Randle available in that range?

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Every time Ford opens his mouth an endangered Dolphin dies.
He literally has zero clue.

Lol that is one of the most lop sided trades in our favor that I've seen in a while.

What a clueless moron.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.
