So, I was thinking about how many people on here want us to make a homegrown contender like the Warriors did and it occurred to me that we have enough picks in this draft that some of them must strike gold assuming we use most of them. Just for fun, I want to hear what you guys think the best pick and outcome for each of our picks is (what role they play, etc.) Don't be afraid to be too optimistic as this is hypothetical after all- I just felt that on a rainy day in a pretty dead time period for us Celtics fans we could use something to get our hopes up!

My ideal draft (with best-case outcomes)

3: Murray - Turns into next James Harden and becomes our shooting guard of the future. All-NBA potential and ends up going head to head with DLO for the next 10 years as the next great Celtics-Lakers rivalry unfolds (I see their games as very similar).

16: Skal - After a season or two in Maine, lives up to the hype and becomes our über-athletic PF of the future a la AD.

23: Valentine - Ends up being a valuable piece of the next Celtics championship team, coming off the bench as a Swiss-army-knife guy who can do it all and provide a spark like Eddie House

31: Maker - His crazy work ethic and unique skill set pays off and he becomes a sort of poor mans KG, starting at center and becoming a stretch 5 that can protect the rim and shoot.

35: Levert - Ends up overcoming his foot issues and becomes a solid, off-the-bench option for us as a second unit scorer (see Jamal Crawford)

45: Bentil - Solid hustle guy to back up the Maker-Skal frontcourt. 15 mpg-ish player.

51: Ibeh - I see a lot of DeAndre Jordan in his game. Could be a steal, since this is an extremely optimistic premise let's say he ends up turning into the next DJ and splits minutes with either Skal or Thon at center while leading the league in blocks.

58: Wayne Selden. Can fill in in case of injuries as an inconsistent but athletic option at the 2

Sign KD, because why not?

Bradley, Hunter, Young and a few others aren't on here- couldn't find room given the fact that I kept all 8 rookies (which would never happen) but you can include those guys or throw in a trade or two if you want.

As long as we're talking "best case" scenario and not "most likely" scenario, sure, this sounds like fun.

Trade #3 and #35 to Phoenix for #4 and #13. Trade #13 and #16 to Toronto for #9.

4: Murray. Because we need somebody who can shoot. Best case scenario (BCS) is that he turns into an adequate defender.

9: Jaylen Brown slides to us. He learns to shoot and, combined with his natural athleticism, becomes a star.

23: Zizic or Zubac. Admit it, you don't know the difference between them either. It took me until mid-season to realize that they were two separate players and not simply spelling errors. Draft and stash.

31: Thon Maker. Because I'm telling you there's a chance...

45: Caris Levert. Go big or go home at this stage in the draft.

51: Georgios Papagiannis. Because I'm dying to hear Tommy try to pronounce his name.

58: Isaiah Whiteside: Because I read on the internet somewhere that some GM whose name I can't remember said that in an undetermined period of time, we'd look back and wonder why he wasn't a first-rounder.

I would take Bender and Deyonta Davis.  We'd add tremendously to our defense and athleticism at the 4-5 positions.  They are also 2 of the youngest players in the draft, so a lot of upside there.

Bender DOB 11/17/1997

Davis DOB 12/02/1996

Do whatever you want with the 2nd rounders.  It's all about upside, and stashing future talent at that point.
