If the top 2 stay as predicted Simmons and Ingram I believe we should go after Jaylen Brown. Obviously I hope Ingram slides but I don't think we will be that lucky. Brown fits into our system as a defensive minded player but the kid excels in transition has great athleticsm. I know his shot isn't great from the 3 but the way he conducts himself in interviews I just love. The kid seems like he's a pure gym rat and seems to have all the tools to become an elite player. We need a wing player in the worst way and he fits the bill. Great slasher amazing athletiscm and finishing at the rim. He says he's in fge gym at 530 in the morning improving his craft. Claims to have improved his jumoer drastically since the college season has ended but he could just be saying what GMs want to hear.
I believe he will be at the top of this draft class in years to come. I have no problem taking him at 3. I love his game and if he can improve his 3 ball the kid is the complete package. Growing up he modeled his game around Tracy McGrady(so did James young but we all know he's nothing like him) and Kobe Bryant especially from a work ethic point of view claiming he is willing to sacrifice whatever he needs to make sure he improves his game and willing to do what others don't to elevate his game. Modern day players he compares himself to Russell Westbrook which we all see that when it comes to his transistion game which is more suited in the NBA compared to college along with kawhi Leonard which I sorta agree with. Two way player with defensive grit and fitting into the systems offense along with coming jnti his own. I do see the kawhi comparison. Note Leonard wasn't an offensive threat coming into the NBA but his work ethic is beyond many players in the league and it shows. I can see Jaylen being the same way. Like Danny said he wants the best player long term and I'm sold on Jaylen Brown leading up to the draft. Anyone hear about the details of his work out with us.

Jaylen Brown reminds me of Tyreke Evans.

Minus the PG skills but similar build and athleticism. Scorers mindset. Ball-handling. Questionable jump-shot and shot-selection. Defensive talent. Quality rebounder. Capable passer.

I prefer Bender, but I can see Ainge taking Brown. Similar to Winslow last year, who Ainge had a huge hard on for. Not buying that he's fixed his shot, if it was that easy why didn't he do it already?

Let me preface with I think Ainge may take Brown at three. I wouldn't be happy, but I could see it.

However, you're confusing being able to dunk with power as being able to finish at the rim. Jaylen Brown is a subpar, or at least was a subpar finisher for Cal. He shot 45% at the rim because he's a bit wreckless and will throw up wild shots in traffic.

I also don't view him as a plus defender at this point. He may be able to hold his own, but this guy is clearly living on a reputation vs. anything quantifiable he did up until this point. Absolutely he does have the tools to be great defender but he's getting overrated right now. He doesn't have the defensive intangibles like a Justise Winslow or a Marcus Smart.

I don't hate Brown if we were at 8-12 but I wouldn't take him at 3. He's got good but not freakish size/length, is erratic and has wobbly mechanics on his shot with no in between game. Overrated feel for the game presently, as well. Solid prospect but not someone 'I'd risk our pick on.

I think that description fits Jaylen and, wait for it, Gordon Hayward.

If Jaylen, can become a solid ball handler and shooter, then Hayward is a good comp.

What exactly is Tyreke Evans minus the point guard skills?

I think it's still just Tyreke Evans

Would Terrence Ross be a fair comparasion with a higher ceiling offensively and I would say he is better defensively

But if we are comparing him from the rookie class of last year I would say he is a Stanley Johnson/Justise Winsllw clone

It is quite normal for to develop over time.  Many players improve a range of skills. But often it takes time. As one example, Bradley has improved in many areas, but it took time.

Evans is known for his defense? Did not know that until now.
