Chriss just sounds like a tyrus Thomas, Gerald green, Josh Smith sort of player to me. Gets by on freak athleticism. You talk yourself into him based on what he seems capable of doing but he probably never actually helps a real team as much as you feel he could.

I thought the most interesting quote was the one about DMurray. I know next to nothing about him, but he could be around at 16. 16 & 23 might make an interesting combo for Phoenix at #13 although, unless Danny is extremely high on one guy, I'd be more interested in trading #3 for #4 & #13 and seeing what we could do from there.

Regarding fears about Murray's defense, not worried longterm. I think he'll end up someone's point guard by year 3 of his career.  Will he be worse there defensively than IT, Iriving, Curry and a host of others? 

Make more sense to draft or not draft Murray based on whether you think he can be an offensive star or just a good offensive player.  If star, take him.

I don't think Murray has the handle or the quicks to be a starting point guard. He will be a Kevin Martin or Eric Gordon style two guard.

If he can be as good as those guys offensively then yeah. But there are still concerns over his handles and slow release. He can stroke it but will he be able to create the space often enough. I'm just not convinced enough to risk it.

Regarding the comments about how we are built to fit around a shooter, yes that is true but not a rookie one. Whoever we end up selecting at 3 should be the best long term player not the best immediate fit

That's fine, but Kris Dunn won't even work out for them at all, and I doubt Dragan Bender will do more than 1-on-1s.  I can't find anything that said Jaylen Brown played against other draftees when he came to Boston either.

I think the Chriss thing is not dissimilar to Anthony Bennett rising back in 2013.

We have a draft that is perceived to be low on high end talent but deep in role players.  Teams watch these players on tape and working out and think, man, I can't use a lottery pick on a guy with very little chance of even becoming an above average starter.

So they talk themselves into the guys who have great physical tools but less in the way of actual proof of ability to play team basketball.

 I don't like his lack of rebounding and questionable BBIQ, but the Anthony Bennett comp, doesn't take, cause he was barely an above average athlete.

 Where this kid is on another stratosphere.

Murray still broke the record in the Celtics 3pt shooting drill though, and everyone raved at how competitive he was during the workout in general.

You can refer to it as hiding, but it is generally considered as agents protecting their assets by not risking injury before the draft is done and contracts are signed. Nobody is going to tear an acl during shooting drills, but it could very well happen during 1 on 1 games.

The similarity is that at least one team talked themselves into taking him way too high because he appeared to have higher upside than the other guys at the top of that draft who all looked like role players, even though there were major red flags that made him seem like he had very high bust potential as well.

And Yi looked very competitive vs the chair from what I heard...  I don't think guys are worried about getting hurt.  They are playing more basketball more competitively and for more hours now than probably any time in their lives.  They want to hide their weaknesses and emphasize their strengths.

Here's his DraftXpress Video. He looks extremely athletic, long/big, and his jumper is silky smooth and clean. I'm sold lol

you may also wish to watch the videos that show his limitations. on defense he lacks effort and on defensive rebounds it is almost embarrassing to see the lack of effort he exerts.

chriss' lack of concern on defense and on rebounds raises significant red flags for me.

Agree, probably because he doesn't have an agent!! But it doesn't matter why, I think that is a huge mark in his favor.  I really like Brown a lot. Would be real happy if we took him. It won't solve our shooting woes but those can be fixed with a couple of FA signings. Any sharp shooters on the FA market this summer??
