Finally acknowledgement of Murray's lack of defence from these guys. He can shoot real good but at 3 I want a complete player.

There's so much hype overdrive going on these last few weeks. I've seen Chriss, Skal. Murray all get big boosts in the media. I'm not sure if it's for real, if it is then great for them. I trust in Ainge to make the right pick. He seems very good at shutting out the hype and following his and his teams judgement.

I've been on the Kris Dunn bandwagon as BPA at 3 if we're picking a backcourt player because I see issues with Hield and especially Murray at the next level. Dunn is much more athletic, has NBA all-defense potential, and can create and make plays. Not going to cry if Danny thinks Hield or Murray is the right pick though.

If Danny goes elsewhere, then might Chriss > Bender? Haven't looked at Chriss videos, has anyone?

Still hoping for a trade.

Same here. Still hoping for a trade, but I'd feel much more comfortable about taking Chriss over Bender, even though I don't hardly know anything about either of them. I like his athleticism, though.

Yeah I read he has only been playing 5 years.

if that's true, then I'm good with taking him at #3. Olajuwon started playing late and took some time to develop, but we all know how he turned out. It sounds like Chriss is several years away from even helping our team, but he could become something special.

Has Chriss worked out for C's yet?

Here's his DraftXpress Video. He looks extremely athletic, long/big, and his jumper is silky smooth and clean. I'm sold lol

Wow, I can see the Kemp comparisons and then some! He can definitely be better than Ingram in the long run.

I'm officially off the Bender bandwagon now! Give me Chriss! He does everything that we need.

I was surprised how long/big he looks. You know how there are certain players that just seem so much bigger than everyone else on the floor and tower over them? That's what Chriss looked like to me in that video. I'm guessing his measurements are pretty impressive, too.

I don't believe so.  That's one reason I'm amused with all the Chriss at #3 rumors.  They expect him to make that big of a jump before he even works out with the team?  I'm skeptical.

  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
Thanks for posting this
1. Chriss doesn't seem to play that hard or have a great basketball IQ. I would be ecstatic if he got picked before the C's, so that Boston could get Ingram.
2. If Murray is the best scorer in the draft we should take him. We need offense and our team defense is built to cover up for good scorers. Murray would be in a good situation to learn to play defense in Boston.
3. It's funny that Chad Ford, stated that Dejounte Murray would be a top five pick if he played at UNC or Duke. Isn't his teammate by the name of Chriss being discussed as a top five pick earlier in the article? It looks like both the Washington guys are going to go to high.
4. I hope Malachi and Dejounte both go before 16 because I want no part of them.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Looks good...but he's still your typical PF (or Stretch 4) in today's NBA. We are stocked at the PG, Combo G, and PF positions....

I disagree.

We have a decent number of power forwards if you include Amir and Kelly, but we definitely need an upgrade long term. The guys there are space-fillers and future role-players

Chriss' subpar rebounding and talk of a low basketball IQ are concerning but he was a freshman on a solidly mediocre team playing against decent competition, so that shouldn't be overblown.  But a legit stretch 4 with elite athleticism?  That's pretty tempting.

Mike

BBIQ is one of the mysteries of the game and why I enjoy watching so much.
One day they'll figure it out by wiring players brains when they play.  I can only imagine it has to do with a fast processing center in a particular location.

Then there are the guys who think quickly, have high iq but can't translate that into a game all that well.  Look at Scalabrine.  When it was time for decisive action he often faltered.  Not a case of low iq, but something closer to what afflicts KO at times.  I'd file it under lack of decisiveness more than iq, but it's out there killing this or that guy's career.

That's why NBA players impress the hell out of me and I don't like to bash them the way some posters do.  They are really pretty great on various levels to make it anywhere near an NBA court.

Knowing my own type, even if I had the IQ (in a coaching sense) I would falter on the floor.  The required combo of flow plus intelligent decision making would be too much.  I wouldn't be indecisive, but I'd turn the ball over to much.

Compared to basketball, tennis is for the brain dead.

What to say about Chriss?  Can he pass?  Why can't we graft he and Bender together to make an uber prospect?  (that the Lakers would take, allowing us to take Ingram.)

I wonder if Jamal Murray can be a Chris Mullin type.

Deficient in athleticism and defense but super-intelligent and super-skilled so he finds a way to be a high level player despite his limitations.
That's an interesting comparison and I think it fits.  Murray has some of that "old man game".  Hesitations, pump-fakes, up and unders, looks comfortable shooting from "awkward" ranges (8-16 ft) and angles.  Doesn't use a lot of advanced dribbling.  Puts defenders on his hip and keeps his dribble low in traffic.  Lots of similarities.

I think Mullin saw the court much better.

Not sure why Chriss would be a bad pick. Just because some mock drafts say so ?

He could be the best in this draft for all this board knows.  The scouts for EVERY team are wrong every year, in EVERY sport. Nothing will change this year.
