Poeltl is the perfect guys for the Celtics to acquire a pick and draft. There are always surprises, but it seems very likely he's going in the 8-12 range. We can afford one of those picks and should try, if we like him. Very good center prospect who could be our starter at the 5 for years to come, even if he never makes an All-Star team. I also suspect he's slightly underrated at this point because his game is not entertaining enough.

Toronto and Milwaukee at 9/10 would seem like solid candidates to trade out of that spot, as they have Jonas and Monroe already on the roster and Poeltl likely to be the BPA when they are picking.

I could see 16/23 and filler for #10, for example. The MIL can take someone like Deyonta or Ellenson at 16 and have an extra 1st, and we get the best center available.

I've got a feeling he'll be taken in the back end of the lottery and whoever takes him there will be very happy.

Not going to become more than a really solid center but I'm confident he will be that, and provide a lot of value for his team.

Don't we already have Zeller-? A player who Stevens refused to play--until it was too late.

We need outside shooters, since our coach doesn't want to play with traditional Centers.

I see him perhaps sliding to us at 16. Which team selects Poeltl before the Celtics pick again at 16?  Realistically, he's not a top 5 talent, and none of the teams in 6-9 really need a center.  Maybe MIL at 10, but after that all the teams have established centers or big men that can't really play with a classic center like Poeltl:

11 ORL - Vučević
12 UTA - Favors & Gobert
13 PHO - Len & Chandler
14 CHI - maybe if Gasol & Noah are gone, but they just drafted Portis and Felicio emerged late in the season
15 DEN - Jokic, Nurkic, Faried, Lauvergne

I'd be interested in moving up from 16 to grab him. There's got to be a partner somewhere between 8 and 12. one of Poeltl, Davis or Korkmaz as a second pick would really please me

He's the top pure center in the draft.  Those players don't fall to #16.  Ever.  I think Toronto or Milwaukee takes him just because he's there.

TP for you too sir! If the rise of Chriss is legit and Skal seems to be rising too then there's a real chance all 3 are there at 10. My only concern is that those three teams; Milwaukee, Orlando and Utah might just be happy taking them

I don't like his feet, and his penchant for being dominated by smaller bigs like Grady at Wichita State, but he looks like Kareem compared to the Euromistake.

Lots of Centers probably look like Kareem when compared to Darko Milicic. If that is the 'Euromistake' you are referring to

Well I saw a lot of long range bombs in the pre-draft workout, looks like he has larger range than Zeller.  My question is whether he has a higher ceiling than Olynyk.

Zeller would have played a lot more if he could rebound or defend the way Poeltl does. The problem here isn't with traditional centers, it's with players who can play -- remember that Zeller began the year in the starting lineup and proceeded to play himself out of it.

The standing reach numbers have now been adjusted, so his measurements are as follows:

Standing Reach 9' 3.5''
Wingspan 7' 2.75''
Weight 239
Age 20

Poeltl is a classic back-to-the-basket center. He's a good and willing passer and can run up and down the floor and has a 36- to 38-inch vertical.

There is not a chance that Poeltl has a 38 inch vertical leap.

Why not? You don't think he has similar athleticism to the Plumlee brothers?

Quote
"I remember early on when I watched film of him playing in Austria as a young kid, I looked at the film and told our coaching staff there's no way in the world this guy's 7 feet tall," Utah coach Larry Krystkowiak said. "It's not very often that you get a 36-38 vertical jump with the kind of speed he has getting up and down the floor, combined with his size. That's pretty awesome. Good hands. In that one play you were able to put it all together."
I did not realize Miles Plumlee has a 40" vertical.

Anyway, if this dude is 7'1" and has a 36+ inch vertical Im surprised there hasnt been more hype around him. Thats WCS/Aaron Gordon type athleticism.

I'm not sure. Take the 2014 draft, if you exclude Embiid, a special case because he was a potentially transcendent talent with serious injury concerns, the top "pure center" drafted was Nurkic taken at, wait for it...16.
