The standing reach numbers have now been adjusted, so his measurements are as follows:

Height w/shoes 7' 1''
Height w/out shoes 7' 0.25''
Standing Reach 9' 3.5''
Wingspan 7' 2.75''
Weight 239
Age 20
Vertical

Poeltl is a classic back-to-the-basket center. He's a good and willing passer and can run up and down the floor and has a 36- to 38-inch vertical.

There is not a chance that Poeltl has a 38 inch vertical leap.

Why not? You don't think he has similar athleticism to the Plumlee brothers?

Quote
"I remember early on when I watched film of him playing in Austria as a young kid, I looked at the film and told our coaching staff there's no way in the world this guy's 7 feet tall," Utah coach Larry Krystkowiak said. "It's not very often that you get a 36-38 vertical jump with the kind of speed he has getting up and down the floor, combined with his size. That's pretty awesome. Good hands. In that one play you were able to put it all together."

Safest player in the draft. I don't understand why nobody even talks about him at #3.

while i hesitate to speak for others, i think part of the reason maybe that while he has high floor ("safe pick") he doesnt have a really high ceiling. bender, murray, dunn they will probably turn out to be better players in the long run.

Well, lack of upside hasn't prevented people from clamoring for Hield. I think upside can be a bit overrated, since frankly most guys end up closer to their floor than to their ceiling. Out of Bender Murray and Dunn, one of those guys will probably be better than Poeltl, but I doubt all three of them will.

I don't necessarily advocate taking Poeltl #3, but I think he's in the same tier as a lot of guys who get talked about way more.

Love Poeltl, but he'll probably slip in the draft based on the needs of teams. The majority of teams in the lottery are set at center and the way the league is trending, it's hard to envision a team drafting him when they have more pressing needs.

I don't like his feet, and his penchant for being dominated by smaller bigs like Grady at Wichita State, but he looks like Kareem compared to the Euromistake.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

Keep the 3rd and still have a shot at Poetl around 10-12. Possibility of Danny getting into the 10-12 pick giving up 16,23, and maybe a couple of second rounders. That first pick of the second round is worth something.

I wouldnt take Poeltl at #3 because you dont have to. Trade down if you want him that bad. I rather take AJ Hammonds at the top of the 2nd, myself.

i guess that is why zizc is ranked down in the 20s as a pick.  ::)

Why are you so obsessed with Bender? Do you post about anything else? This thread isn't even about him, but you can't help yourself.

I would trade 16, 23, 35, 45 and Young to move up for Poeltl in a heartbeat. That's actually what I'm hoping happens even if we trade 3.

If we walked away with Brown, Poeltl, and Bentil and a euro to draft and stash, I'd be ecstatic.
