We don't have any shooters to pass to. Nor do we have any real low post options.

Thomas is a good passer, but his main role is to score obviously.

I think his main role is both to score and to create shots for others.  He does an outstanding job at the latter.

ET was good, but may be gone.

Maybe.  If so, they need to replace him; but they really need to replace him anyway.  Yes, he creates shots off the dribble; but he has two big drawbacks in being the primary ballhandler: lots of turnovers and shaky outside shot.

Who can really pass after that. Smart has disappointing.

I guess it depends on what you were expecting - surely not the second coming of Rajon Rondo?  I'd say on the contrary that his progress in this area has been about what you could reasonably hope for.  The big improvement in turnovers is especially encouraging, and he has the tools to get in the lane and finish with contact or kick it out.

If we lose Turner we are really going to need help distributing the rock. Looking at it we need to keep Turner.

Point taken, although as I said I think that they need to upgrade.

And if we do we may need to draft VC Valentine at 16.

Unlikely that they would draft for need at 16 - certainly not at this point, where they've got a strong roster.

And I was hoping to land a talented big guy there.

Looks like Diamond Stone might be available there.

Smart is a good passer. But with Turner handling the ball, smart never got a chance to show his PG skills. That's why it might be time to let go of Evan. Let Marcus take the reigns

I'm a fan of Smart as well; and like you, apparently, I think that there are serious holes in Turner's game.  But Evan was not holding Marcus back - their games are too unalike, and Smart needs a guy like Turner or Thomas on the floor with him.  Marcus probably never will be suited for "taking the reins", even as he develops his skill to create shots off the dribble.

That's okay!

Smart is a below average passer for PG.  About average for a SG.

And in fact he played more 2 than 1 this past year.  He was always on the floor with either Turner or Thomas - or both.

Kris Dunn is best player available at #3 and the best passing guard in the draft. It's pretty easy who the Celtics should select.  The Celtics are not at the stage where you say we draft by need.  You take the best player available bottom line and that's Dunn.

1.  Dunn can't shoot.
2.  Dunn is the oldest of the potential top 5 prospects in this draft. (3/19/94) Age 22.  Even Hield who is widely criticized as being too old is only 3 months older than Dunn.  (12/17/93)
3.  Last but not least, Dunn and his agent have stated they don't want to come to the Celtics because of the logjam at guard.

Smart is an above average passer as a combo guard.  He should improve given experience and confidence.  His vision is fine.

If we lose ET, someone needs to step up to handle that ball-handling role.  The reason ET is so effective is his ability to penetrate and dish or score the ball if given the opportunity.

I think Hunter is a better than average Passer. Hoping he can turn the corner in his second season.. Would be the perfect replacement for Turner.

I think Valentine is the best passing guard not the athlete or defender than Dunn is, but a better Passer and shooter.

I think you mean we need another playmaker.  I agree.

Look at the drives/g.    Most teams have a couple of guys over 5 drives/g (except GSW, they got bad shot makers)  IT has to do too much.  Scoring, ball handling.  No help.   Hawks had 3 to 5 guys on him during the playoffs.
