He is UFA. If Miami (Riley) wants them to be next to Cleveland, Wade must accept reduced salary. I don't think he will. Should we offer him max? I know he is 34, but still... I'd be thrilled to see this man in green. Your thoughts?

Dwayne Wade is on a serious decline. No need to Max out over the hill players. We are not gonna win the finals next year so why go and sign players who have slowed down to multi million dollar contracts ? He would just be eating up space.

In a team with Durant and Horford, you think we would not be in Finals??

IT
DW
KD
Horford
Amir

I think we are quite contender.

A lot of people consider Howard as a potential signing, Gasol as well, so I don't see problem with Wade. He had a great season. To pair him with Durant and Horford, I say we are better than Cavs and we get a 2 C'ship shots (with Wade) at least.

The only MaX I would offer Wade is the IMAX:  tickets to the next Star Wars Movie.

If Wade led to Durant or some other big names, I would give him a 2 year max.  Just too old for a 4 year max, though wouldn't be opposed to signing him to a 4 year contract at something a good deal less than max.

That said, I don't think he leaves Miami and if he does it will be either to Chicago (to play at home) or to a team where his friends are (like Cleveland).
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Wade had a good season compared with last year, but he has clearly lost a lot. Remember him going for a jump ball in one of our games this year and AB schooled him, Wade barely got off the ground. Wade's last really good season was '12-'13, and while right now he's still an above-average starter, it's fair to assume that at some point over the next few years he will no longer be worth whatever we'd be paying him.

I'm not sure Danny is gonna go all out in the off season to go for the title next year. Wade can still shoot n he's not done yet. I don't think they are going that route though.

People have talked about Wade being on the "decline" for the last 4 or 5 years. He might be 34 but he is still an unbelievably good basketball player. He averaged 19 5 and 4 this year shooting 46% and 1.1 steals per game. Wade is probably the most underrated "superstar" in the game the last 8 or 9 years. He arguably won Lebron 2 championships.

With that being said. Wade isn't leaving Miami. And he isn't going to fit with the Celtics anyway so I wouldn't sign him.

He'd be a good 6th man for someone.

No longer good enough for as large a role as he has. Too much of his offense comes at the expense of his teammates (over-dribbling, stagnating offense, teammates do not get enough touches or shot attempts). His defense is below average. Bad outside jump-shot. Needs the whole team to revolve around him and he isn't good enough for that anymore.

However, he could still be very effective as a 6th man and have the whole team revolve around him while the stars rest.

Not sure his ego is ready for such a change though.

Dwayne Wade is on a serious decline.
It feels like people here have been saying he is in decline for the past 5-6 years. Yet he is still playing at a high level.

Dwayne Wade at the max is over $30 million next year.  That's more than KD will get.  He's still very good, but you would not be able to afford him and a second star player unless some significant trades were made to move salary.  Paying $30 million to a guard seems like the wrong way to improve our team.

Also, I'm too well-practiced in hating Wade to root for him.

Both are true.  His decline is still all-star level, but he's no longer a top 3-5 player in the league.
