So this is my prediction on how the offseason will shake out including draft and free agency.

Draft

3rd pick -  Jaylen Brown
We take Brown because he has great potential and impressed during the workout. I know we have Crowder but Brown can take Turners minutes off the bench while he develops his shot. We do need a big man but Bender is not the answer and i'll explain why with the next pick.

16th pick - Skal Labissiere
Skal was ranked as going 1 or 2 before the college season but he has fall all the way to late lottery or mid first rounder. I think we take him here because it is a very good high risk/ high reward pick. Skal has all of the tools to be a great player and I don't see Bender as being a better prospect than him. Skal is a better shooter, is more athletic, and can become a defensive anchor so his ceiling could be an KAT type player while Bender's ceiling could be Dirk with great PNR defense.
I know some people think Skal is a bum from his poor showing at Kentucky but I just think the fit was terrible with Calipari. Skal needs a motivator to get him going he's a kid in a foreign country playing a sport against the best with only a few years experience. If Brad can talk with him and figure out what it takes to get him back to his aggressive nature which made him 1 of the top 2 coming out of high school last year he could be the biggest steal of the draft.I mean the kid put up monster stats in the USA vs World game against the best incoming college players. Plus Danny is in love with drafting High School studs (Sully, AB, and MS)

23 pick - Ivica Zubac
Safest draft and stash player there is in my opinion he looks very good on tape and Danny has stated he liked him when he went overseas a few days ago. There is no harm in this pick he's a good young big man project for years to come which could help a lot in the grand scheme of things.

31 pick - Thon Maker
If he falls to the 2nd round which is very likely we'll swoop him up he has the highest potential of anyone you can get at this point of the draft. He was the most athletic big man at the combine but he is a project so the dleague will be needed for him while he tests his skills. But if he can use his amazing athletic ability, put on weight and get better on defense he could be super useful down the line. He already has a pretty good shot and seems like a very good kid from his interviews so I believe he'll have no problem working his butt off to improve.

I won't finish the rest of the draft because most likely they'll be used for draft and stash players who i'm not as familiar on or traded away for future picks or to move up to get these guys.

Offseason signings

KD isn't coming through that door sorry OKC is still very young and very good he'll reup with them.

Only one signing for us and I know it will not be popular but Hassan Whiteside for the 4 yr Max 5 with team option
He's a shoot blocking machine and a very good rebounder. Every bigman we have on the inside gets ran through like toilet paper every night we need an enforcer. We would be like the 2004 pistons getting our Ben Wallace a hot head defender who is a great rebounder.

I know people think we need shooting but IT, AB, and Crowder are good 3 point shooters but AB and Crowder were hurt so our shooting was lacking when we replace them with Smart and Turner. If they stay healthy I see no reason why we need more shooting when most of the time 2 of the 3 will be on the floor with a shooting big (KO, JJ). So it could be improved but it's not gonna kill us unless we start getting hurt.

Our lineup
PG: IT/ Rozier/ Felder??
SG  AB/ Smart/ Hunter
SF: Crowder/ Brown/ Young
PF: Jerebko/ Amir/Mickey
C: Whiteside/ KO/ Skal/ Maker?? (might go overseas)

Next season
This team has improved a bit while the Hawks, Toronto, Heat, and Hornets have have dropped a bit from age (Heat/Hawk) and losing players in FA (Horford.Derozan, Batum, Whiteside, Jefferson)
The Pacers and Pistons get better with their young players developing so it might be a competition in the top spots again but this time is for the 2nd through 4th seeds between us, Pacers, and Pistons. 50-55 wins

Our future

Rozier is showing he can play in the NBA. He is so fast, plays great defense and can get to the cup with ease.
Smart is still trying to improve his shot but I think he'll eventually get it because it seems for mental than anything. He showed during the playoffs that he can run the point with some great assists, he showed he can drive the ball and power through the defense, and his defense shined it's brightest locking down Teague to Millsap. He is something special on defense.

We drafted bigs with huge potential and we'll see how they develop. As well as the other young players we currently have Mickey, Hunter,...Young (I want to believe  :'( )
Its the long game with them but we have great prospects to look at for awhile.

Now some might still be mad at the Whiteside signing but it's a long term game with us we already have our best players signed for the next few years while we have top draft picks waiting for us thanks to the Nets. Lets say the Nets are the worst team next year with the Lakers and 76ers improving from ingram and Simmons. We would have a top 3 pick almost guranteed once again in another strong draft class with 3 great Pf's with Harry Giles projected #1, Jonathan Isaac and Jayson Tatum. That would fill our need at the 4 for the future and think 3 years down the line to have a lineup of

Rozier
Smart
Brown
Giles
Skal/Maker/ Ivica

If they can reach their potential that's a great lineup that we assembled while competing right now. The future looks bright even though the playoffs made it appear gloomy.

So chins up guys we could have our dynasty for the future while competing in the present aswell.

No - Definitely not Brown with the 3rd pick. No perimeter shot and Celtics desperately need 3 point shooting to create the floor spacing Stevens wants.

No - Don't mind taking a potential upside guy here but Skal looks like a bum. Couldn't even rebound well at the college level with great measurables.

Sure why not. Worth it to take gamble.

This would be a strong value pick.

No - Whiteside doesn't provide floor spacing and has terrible analytics

I know one thing for sure is happening: we will draft Jaylen Brown at 3.

He screams "Danny's guy" to me. He will be the pick.

As for the rest, not sure I'm a fan of whiteside. And we need shooting, so maybe we target other free agents.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

All moves aside I agree there is some truth to the idea of building a team for now and a team for the future ( the post lebron future) smart, #3, 2017 nets, 2018 nets and grizz could potentially be the building blocks for the future. IT, ab, crowder and KO along with smart free agents signing could keep the Cs around 50 wins while the youth grows.

Well DA might draft Brown just not 3rd. Boston might be swapping picks with Suns, wolves or even kings for extra players or 2017 picks. People have to understand that the Celtics 2017 pick is owned by the nets (if it's swapped). This means that the Cs have extra incentive to be good next year since the 2018 nets pick is theirs. All I'm trying to say is if the Cs take on on a project that could be had latter on the draft, they will make sure to get extra compensation by trading down

  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
I like most of the individual picks and signing Whiteside, but the C's need to add some shooting this offseason. I'm fine with Brown as a back up 3. I'd be very happy if Skal slipped to 16 and we drafted him as a  project. Zubac is a solid draft and stash, while Thon is a good flier.

Whiteside wouldn't be awful, but we would need to sign another free agent who could shoot.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Yeah I wasn't really for him a few weeks ago but after watching a few of his games and seeing a highlight reel or 2 of his dunks i'm sold on him. He's young and his shot wasn't completely broken at cal

It would be nice to add shooting but I just don't see where we have space on the roster. At PG we have IT and Rozier and IT isn't going anywhere and Rozier deserves a bigger role and more min.

At SG we have AB and Marcus. AB is a very good shooter and Marcus is most likely a big part of the future.

At SF we have Crowder and Brown. Crowder is an good shooter and Brown needs mins you don't select someone #3 and don't play him. I would love to get Batum but the minutes are taken up here.

At PF maybe because it Jerebko and KO but both can shoot unless we trade one for more picks and sign Ryan Anderson

At C there aren't many options for big men who can space the floor. Amir can do it somewhat and if we sign whiteside he kinda has a shot. He shoots 40% from mid range but i'm not holding my breath for him shooting it consistently.

Exactly I want us to be ready for when Lebron starts dropping off in a few years but I also want us to give him a challenge every year and I think this team would have a chance if we don't have another offensive slump late in the season.
