The 6ers don't need to trade assets to get a decent, mid-career point guard, if that is what they truly think they need (it isn't. at all.). Mike Conley, Rajon Rondo, Jordan Clarkson, Jeremy Lin, Deron Williams, and Brandon Jennings are all free agents, demand is low, and the 76ers have no salary commitments whatsoever.
This story doesn't add up at all.
TP - FA is loaded with decent PGs all possibly looking for a bigger role. Philly can spend as much as they want on any of them. Conley is probably a stretch, but someone like Rondo would be a tremendous upgrade and talk about getting the ball to guys in the right spots. They aren't likely going to contend in the near future and Rondo would love a big contract and a featured role.
The fit with Simmons might not be wonderful, but then trade Noel for a lights-out shooter instead.
The spacing if they brought Rondo in would be disgusting.
