At this point I think it's clear the mock drafters are just shifting through every possible selection at three just to say at one point they called the right guy.

I agree with that, at least it gives us something to speculate.

Or Danny is actively feeding different information to different people who do mocks. That way no one knows who the C's want.

Not sure how Ford doesn't even mention Bender or Brown. The C's have worked out both those guys and have not worked out any of the 3 guys Ford mentioned.

CB Draft: Memphis Grizz

Because Ford really doesn't have a clue. I'm almost certain he makes up half of his insider stuff to make himself sound legit.

Here's a question for folks, considering the obsession with a Sixers trade:

Would you rather have

1) Dunn and Noel;
2) Smart and Bender;
3) Dunn and Chriss (because you trade Smart plus #16 to the Wolves for #5)?

Man I love IT but this exact scenario is what I think would be the best move for the celtics moving forward. I personally believe dunn is going to surprise people with his abilities.

On the IT front, there are some issues with IT and the future fit of a championship contender. I already made a post about his smaller than average window, and the assumption he will want to be payed like an allstar right when the decline begins. I won't rehash the specifics here.

If Teague can bring back a noel caliber player, imagine what IT could bring us. These are the kinds of moves that savy GMs make that set the team up for years to come.

The only caveat is that if ITs presence helps us land a Durant, then of course you don't move the guy.

I'm worried that the celtics have created this air of support for their players (aka we have your back) with bringing IT here and letting him blossom. Not to mention having him be the face of our team in the lottery. Might this stop them from making the savy play for the future? Maybe

If Dunn is better than IT as early as next year, then what should Dunn bring back?  Star free agents want to play with IT, not Kris Dunn.  They don't know who Kris Dunn is.

Correct. That's why I mentioned the Durant part in there. That's why you pick the BPA at 3, and can move him if we do snag a star free agent this year (Durant is really the only star in my opinion.) If not, try to use IT as a piece before it's too late and we are stuck with a bad contract on a declining 5'9 gunner.

Yeah, declining 5'9" gunner does not accurately describe IT.  At all.  He's 5'9".  He also had the best PER, Win Shares, BPM, and VORP of his career.  So not declining.  He also had the highest assist rate of his career.  So not a gunner.  Please learn what you're talking about, and then post.

Not attacking you so I don't know why you are. I also implied he would be a declining gunner once he got his new contract in a few years. IT has been known to take some wild shots (like a gunner) and getting assists doesn't necessarily make someone not a gunner. When I refer to someone as a gunner, I'm usually talking about someone who takes a high volume of shots from the perimeter (or long mid range) who doesn't necessarily knock down a huge volume.

Just because we have a fundamentally different opinion of how effective IT will be when he is 29-34 doesn't mean you have more of a right to post than I do. I am well aware of how effective he was this year.

I find it insane we are even thinking of trading IT. Phenomenal player. Clutch shooter. Insane.

NewsFlash: a backcourt of Dunn and Smart ain't gonna cut it on offense in today's NBA. If you pick Dunn, Smart is the more likely guard to be dealt over Thomas.
  Finally someone knows what they're talking about!!  If we draft Dunn, Smart has to go!!

So Ford thinks that Dunn can fill the shoes of IT in case we trade him? That's crazy if you ask me.

Probably #3, but it's hard to see the Wolves doing that.

Dunn alone filling the shoes would be crazy, but I assume he gives IT some kind of value in the market. If we got back another good player for IT, random player and Dunn might set us up better for the long term.

Honestly I find it hard to see us doing that. Marcus is a winning player. Whatever his offensive struggles he has proved that. People overvalue the flashy stuff and undervalue the leadership he has shown

That's the one reason I'd take Dunn - to offload Smart for big help.

From all the moves the C's have been making (new facility, extension for Stevens, IT recruiting) I think the C's are gearing up to try to add some top end talent in free agency. Trading IT is the opposite type of move I expect.

I'd rather stay competitive and have our high draft picks develop on a winning team than trade away IT and play all the young guys on a losing team. I believe that having young players develop in a fixed system, with a winning culture is extremely important to development.

Lots of talented prospects don't make it in the league. Developing prospects in a good winning system decreases the chances of players busting.

Smart and Bender by far. Trading Smart for Chriss would be a nightmare in my book.
