I don't know anything about Chriss but that is the first time I've seen him at #3! I'd be willing to bet against that pick.

Oh wow at Chriss 3.  I actually am in favor of it.  I just think he is so promising as an athlete and his touch says good things too.  I have been hoping we draft him but would love to move back to do so.  If we end up just taking him at 3 though I would be pretty excited.  He would be a type of athletic big we haven't seen in a long time, plus he can still shoot.

He's 6'10", 230 lb, 18 yr old Freshman PF with almost a 40" vertical.  Shot 35% from three.  Terrible defensive rebounder, really good offensive one.  Has some post game.  The worry is his DReb but IMO I think that's so solvable of an issue.  He's young and hasn't been even playing basketball for long.  He is very promising.

He was originally projected around 10 or so but I've seen talk that after workouts he is rising.

The pick in intriguing, but makes me think we can trade down for him.

DE is going with the WPA for the Celtics. That is worse player available.

I would take everyone 4 through 9 over Chriss

 Bender
 Dunn
 Hield
 Brown
 Murray
 Poeltl

At 16 I'd take these guys over Prince.

 Sabonis
 Jones
 Valentine
 Zizic

 Horrible picks.

Agree with the Chriss pick being a giant leap of faith.

Prince at 16 doesn't bother me too much, but I would also prefer Valentine if he's available.

Chriss at 3? I don't even see the logic in moving him there... did he impress in some workout today or something?

Chriss would be a great choice...at our 2nd pick after we consolidate and move up to #10 or so. I really don't want a 'Rozier' reaction again this year, especially with highest pick we have had since Billups.

*on a side note, I now really like Rozier and hope that he sticks around. Hopefully if Danny is tossing in extra players, it can be RJ/Young.

Chriss would be a bad pick at 3, but I'd be fine with all the other picks. We shouldn't keep more than 3 rookies so I would want more draft and stashes.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Yes.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2643466-nba-rumors-latest-buzz-on-ben-simmons-marquese-chriss-and-2016-draft-plans

Quote
Washington Huskies big man Marquese Chriss is the definition of a high-ceiling prospect thanks to his age (18 years old), developing jumper and outrageous athleticism, and teams are beginning to take notice during the workout phase of the predraft process.

"While we have generally pegged him in the No. 7-10 range, teams as high as the [Phoenix] Suns at No. 4 are considering him," ESPN.com's Chad Ford wrote. "They need a stretch floor [sic], and the other options (Dragan Bender, Henry Ellenson) don't have the athletic upside that Chriss does."

According to DraftExpress, the 6'10", 233-pound Chriss notched a max vertical jump of 38 ½ inches at the NBA Draft Combine in mid-May thanks in part to his wingspan of just over seven feet.

But that's not all.

Chriss is also a surprisingly strong shooter for an 18-year-old, as evidenced by his 43.9 percent conversion rate on two-point jumpers last season, per Hoop-Math.com. Chriss also rattled home 35 percent of his three-point attempts in a respectable 60-shot sample.

Was really intrigued with Chriss after his strong NIT. I see a lot of Derrick Williams comparisons and while that's fair I dont think it tells the whole story.

Williams needs to be a volume shooter and doesn't really have elite measuments or athleticism to warrant it. Chris's has the capability to produce off ball or off the bounce.

Imo his richest man's comp is Chris Bosh and that would be an outstanding pick at 3. That being said his low end floor might be Hakim Warrick which could set us back years. I'm willing to hand the keys to Stevens with the project though, if anyone can turn Chriss into a stud it's Stevens if Jordan Crawford, Isaiah Thomas, and Evan Turner are any indications.

A fully realised Marquisse Chris has the potential to be a top 3 player on a Championship team... An underachieving Chriss is out of the league in 3 years. Here's hoping for the former if we do take him.

  • GOT IT!!!
I like what I'm hearing with Buddy's workouts. He's lighting it up from deep. Also read he's been working out with Kobe on his handles and explosiveness. He has that same kind of work ethic Kobe does. I will enjoy following him wherever he ends up.  :)

That's where he looks really outstanding.

But keep in mind again the weaknesses to his game.  Clearly though you can see some Amare/Kemp level of athleticism out of him at times.  Runs the floor effortlessly and his head is up at the rim on dunks.

Just watch those two plays after the 1:58 mark  :o

I don't like Chriss at 3. There are questions about his focus and commitment to the game.

Quote
There are more concerns about Chriss defensively than there are positives. The statistic that sticks out like a sore thumb is Chriss’ poor defensive rebounding percentage. Chriss is 6-9 with 7-0 wingspan and he can jump out of the gym, but his defensive rebound rate as a freshman was a miserable 11.7 percent. For comparison, Chriss’ teammate, Dejounte Murray posted a defensive rebound rate of 13.7 percent as a 6-5 guard. The problem is that Chriss doesn’t actively box out waiting opponents and his lack of motor without points on the line is one of the bigger criticisms that exists for the first round prospect.

Chriss’ lack of engagement on the defensive end also translates to his one-on-one defense where he is rarely seated in a defensive stance. He’s quick enough to stay in front of his man, but his lack of fundamentals and discipline shine in a poor way defensively. Those traits are reflected in Chriss’ inability to stay on the floor. He averaged 6.5 fouls per 40 minutes, which is one of the big reasons he was limited to just 24.9 minutes per game at Washington.

The bet on Chriss here is that his lack of focus and control defensively is a product of his youth. He’s one of the youngest players in the class and there are some promising signs that with improved fundamentals, Chriss could be a plus defender in the NBA. In particular, Chriss was a decent weak side shot blocker as a freshman, averaging 2.6 blocks per 40 minutes and posting a 5.8 percent block rate. He has the length and quickness to be a quality help defender if he’s willing to play with the necessary effort on that end of the floor.

...

Chriss is a potential home run given his offensive upside and defensive potential, but there are enough red flags that suggest he could be a slow grounder to the second baseman to limit his ceiling in the draft order. However, given that the 2016 class lacks a large pool of candidates with similar upside, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Chriss come off the board in the top 10 come June.
