Is The Price Right: Bradley + # 3 For Butler?

Personally, I think it is a fair trade when you consider that Bradley is arguably the best perimeter defensive guard in the league right now. Butler brings less defensively, but compensates on the offensive side. The Bulls would be getting the best perimeter defensive guard in the league and possibly a player who outperforms Butler down the road (or possibly a bust, of course). In return, we would be getting an all-star who improves our overall game despite a minor hit to our perimeter defense.

Bradley is an All-Defensive First Team player who shutdown Steph Curry, and the third overall pick has been used in the past on people as notable as Michael Jordan, Kevin McHale, Grant Hill and James Harden. Nobody can say with certainty that the third overall pick this year will not join this list. The potential is there.

Some of you may be overestimating the efficacy of Butler (what has he really accomplished in the league?) while simultaneously underselling our assets in the process...

Keep in mind: The Lakers are almost surely going to land DeRozan in free agency, so I cannot imagine them playing for Butler.

I think the Lakers could offer Clarkson and the #2. Bradley is better than Clarkson, but the Bulls could get Ingram.

The Suns could offer #4 and Knight. The Bulls would take that. The Suns would get better, but it seems like a short-term move that wouldn't lead to contending.

Minny could offer #5 and Lavine. The connection with Thibs makes sense. The Bulls would have to think about that deal.

New Orleans should offer Evans and #6. Getting Davis another all-star should be a priority. If I'm the Bulls, I'd rather have the #3 pick.

The Kings could offer #8 and WCS. Rondo-Butler-Cousins core could be good. If I'm the Bulls, I'd rather have the #3 pick.

Multiple picks are necessary to get Butler, but at least one has to be really good. We have the best.

I like how Bradley fits with Thomas - Butler better. Rozier fills out the back court.

This doesn't quite seem like fair value for Butler, but it would be a good starting offer. Maybe adding #16 and a couple seconds would get it done. Or, Chicago might demand a second key rotation player (Smart/IT/Crowder), which would be a dealbreaker unless we really thought it would allow us to get Durant.

I think that the price for Butler will be very high and very painful. It wouldn't shock me that they start by asking for #3, Brooklyn 2017, Crowder, and Bradley. Maybe we could get get them down to #3, Brooklyn 2018, and Bradley, but I have my doubts. If they don't like what they hear from us, they can always keep a terrific two way player in the prime of his career on a below market contract.

Exactly. The guard positions are a place of strength for the Celtics. Using the #3 pick and trading a guard to get better at a position of strength seems pointless.

Give me a Center or PF.
