You'd be crazy to. Noel is due a massive pay increase next summer. If you make this trade you basically say bye bye to FA in 2017.

Maybe. Probably.Positives:(1) Looking at the roster, this team needs Noel far more than it needs Smart. KO kicks out to be a stretch 4 (when we go big) or Jae fills that roll when we go small (or even Hortford from 15 feet). Draft someone like Murray or Hield and you've got a guy out there on the wing along with Bradley who are 3 point shooters. The floor would open up wonderfully for IT to drive and play the pick and roll game with Noel.(2) Big > Little. Always has been, always will be.(3) Noel has produced a bit more on the court. Their advanced stats aren't too far off but Noel has been the better guy thus far.Negatives:(1) I think Smart may be the better long term player. He's gotta work on his offensive game but if he can even average 15ppg he'll be an incredible player for us.(2) Noel's health is a concern. (3) I really like Smart's energy and leadership. Note that I didn't mention cap space. It's because at this point it's not that strong of a factor. The Cs have an overabundance of cap space and the cap is going to climb even more next year. It's not that I'm willing to waste it but at this point I'm more concerned with putting the best 5 on the floor.
I voted no. What we should really, do, imo, is trade Smart and Young to the Sixers for their two firsts at 24 and 26, and if we could get their second rounder for next year, do it, but 24 and 26 would be great.

Do we really need 2 more? Smart for 2 late firsts is the opposite of asset consolidation.

I'm not interested in asset consolidation. We need a whole new roster, and Smart for those picks would be fair for both teams, right? I'll admit, I don't like Smart, but I don't think I'm undervaluing him, although that is probably an unpopular opinion on here. I realize that he was the 6th pick in the draft, but I think we can get better players than him at 23, 24, and 26.
