No terms yet but it looks like the C's want to keep the family together. I like that the Celtics seem committed to keeping everyone feeling safe in their roles.

With the plethora of average to horrible GM's and the coaching carousel that plagues many teams it's nice to have a GM and coach that are in line and have a successful track record (and heading in the right direction.)
The Nets will finish with the worst record and the Celtics will end up with the 4th pick.

This is fantastic news.  Having a stable organization run by smart, reasonable people is perhaps the most important factor in achieving sustained success in the NBA.

And I hope this puts to rest once and for all the absurd talk about Stevens leaving for some mythical college coaching dream job.  He's in for the long haul.

Extension with 3 years left on his deal, did not expect it this off season but I guess this is meant to be a signal to FAs that he's sticking around.

I don't know how long Ainge had left on his contract, but I know Stevens still had three more years to go.  Stability is incredibly undervalued in the NBA, and it's great the Celtics owners recognize the value of finding the right people and sticking with them.

Probably a bit of a raise as well.  I'd guess that that was the main motivation for Stevens
I'm bitter.

Well that and more guaranteed money. But yeah I'm sure his per year salary also was raised from 3.67 per year given the explosion of coach money since he was brought in.

Prediction:

5 years from now, Stevens will be the longest-tenured head coach in the NBA.

  • Eagerly Awaiting the Next Fantasy Draft
We have one of the best coaches in the NBA and one of the best GMs that we would lock up both is great news.

I hope I will never hear a Stevens is going back to college rumor ever again.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Great news! Makes me believe the C's are building through the draft and the nets picks which I am completely fine with. No rushed stupid decisions. Nobody is touching Cleveland for the next two to three years anyways.

You know what they say; if it isn't broke don't fix it.
The stability of the Celtics franchise is something that like, especially when you look at other teams that are falling apart *cough* Brooklyn *cough*.
Jack of all trades, master of none.
