Bender is Tyler Zeller.

Zeller can shoot 3's , handle the ball on the perimeter , has elite length for his position , was a predicted top 5 pick at the age of 18 , played against grown men from in a professional league as a teenager ?

Bender is Tyler Zeller.
on the surface, this appears to be a shallow and inaccurate comparison. please expand and explain why you think these two players are so similar. thanks.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

But Zeller is clearly a better basketball player right now.  Bender averages as many personal fouls as he does rebounds.  Sure, he's played against grown men... but he wasn't any good.  Not yet anyways.

Then we shouldn't draft anyone, because no rookie we take at #3 is going to be better than any of our major contributors next year.

This would be great to add second question to. "Did you like Okafor over Porzingis last draft?"

Both 7 feet tall with average wingspans, wirey frames, run the court well, mediocre rebounders for their size, can get pushed around by large bodies, both prefer to faceup and have marginal post game.  Neither can create their own shot.

Bender has better range.  Zeller has a much better pedigree -- ACC player of the year.  Averaged 16 and 10.  Not sure if Bender has ever had a 10 point game, but he averages around 5 points and 3 fouls.

I think Murray, Hield, Ellenson, Valentine, D Jackson and probably a few I'm forgetting could all potentially contribute more than Zeller.

Well I didn't, thought Porzingis was a better prospect.

I wouldn't be surprised if the C's draft board last year was Towns and Porzingis at 1 and 2 in either order.  I thought for sure they would pull off the trade to N.Y. and snag him.  I don't believe that the C's have any interest in Okafor other than to use in another trade.  I had zero interest in Okafor last year.

For what it is worth Okafor came in tied for 4th on the all-rookie team. I believe towards the end of the season both Pelton and Hollinger ranked him 7th or 8th among rookies. Obviously I don't take any of these things as gospel, but it does suggest Okafor isn't viewed as a sure fire all star by a pretty significant amount of basketball minds.

Well, the rumors are that if they moved up to 4 they would have taken Winslow (ugh). So I doubt Porzingis was 2nd on their draft board.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

Bender's standing reach is 9'3. Zeller's is 8'8.5

They're both tall, fast white guys that get moved around a lot. That's really where the comparisons end. One is 18 and is (probably) going to grow, the other is 26 and will not grow.

I personally think a Taller Jerebko is a better comparison--And that'd be really really good to have on this team.
My biases, in order of fervor:
Pro:
Smart, Brown, Hayward, Tatum, Kemba, Grant Williams, Sleepy Williams, Edwards!

Anti:
Kanter, Semi, Theis, Poierier

About Bender ?..a concern ...I'm a bit worried about the genetic thing of ACL tear ?   His brother has had a time with his knee early in life ........wonder if it might be prediction of future for this kid.
