I believe in picking upside, but I don't want to go all projects with every single pick. I'd like to add at least one guy who can give us immediate rotation minutes in addition to some high upside fliers like Maker or Skal.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Lots of upside projects out there, among them:

Bender
Brown
Skal
Davis
Maker
Luwawu
Zizic/Zubac

I think there will only be room for 1 or 2 on the roster, so I too would pick one guy like Hield or Dunn who might contribute right away, and then shoot for upside and and Euro draft and stash later.

I have no desire to draft Brown.

College production was mediocre.
He supposedly was an awful interview during the combine with an arrogant attitude.
Can't create his own shot despite outstanding physical tools.
Can't shoot very well even if he could take his own shot.

History is littered with great physical specimens that never really panned out. While I'm fine with stashing a project player on the roster, I certainly don't think it's in the interest of the Cs to draft 3 of them.

Jaylen Brown will be an All Star in the next 5 years.

Draft Buddy Heild, move Smart for a player with equal value at another position of need, jump back into the top 10 by trading picks 16,23 n pick up Skal or Luwawu to develop. If Danny trades pick 3 for a player using all three 1st round picks, bundle all 5 2nds to move up into the 12-16 and pick Valentine

Really hoping we draft Maker (not at 3). I don't really care what the other picks are and am assuming some kind of consolidation trade is on the horizon. If we do get Butler using several of our picks, I think it would be really cool to get the guy (Maker) who was supposed to be the next big thing next year before he was recently [figuratively] flushed down the toilet by anybody who has an opinion.

Even better: draft Bender, Skal, and Maker and put out the longest team in NBA history.

That could result in literally no results from this draft.

Like, we would look back and say "dang, that 2016 draft was so bad for us. We literally came away with nothing. "
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

Brown has terrible basketball IQ and instincts. He doesn't have the upside you think he does.

you pretty much are  - here's the poll I ran earlier this year

http://forums.celticsblog.com/index.php?topic=83665.0;viewresults

with the third pick in this draft, I see the options as either drafting the player left with the highest floor (surest thing) or trading it for an all-star-level talent (obviously part of a package depending on the player).

with the sure thing in our pocket, then i have no issue with taking riskier picks at 16 and 23 if there's a high upside player on the board and no solid picks left as alternatives.
if, for example, at 16 we have a choice between Valentine (expected to be a pretty solid pro) vs Skal (high risk), I wouldn't be adverse to taking a chance on Skal.  same thing if Thon Maker is there at 23 and the team doesn't think he'll be there at 31.

Even better: draft Bender, Skal, and Maker and put out the longest team in NBA history.

All three of them weight what 216, they would get broken in two and would get pushed around too easily.

I'm not really advocating for this, but I kind of love it as an experiment. Sure they're all skinny but they're also all 18-19 years old. They'll all put on a little bit of weight. Besides, the point is that you play all 3 at the same time and just swarm offenses with crazy-long arms.

I don't think it would win much but it'd be fun to watch.  ;)

Assuming Boston makes no blockbuster trades during the draft I have no problem with using a few of the picks on players with lots of potential or a ton of upside.
